            Santos's POV
"Well hello sleeping beauty," I say when Marcus comes into the living room. He glares and sits down next to me, snatching the book from my hands. "St-"
"Your really reading this? A romance?" He asks. I shrug, taking it back and setting it in my lap. "Well now that your down getting cozy with my little sister-"
"We weren't doing anything, Marcus," I snap. "I wouldn't do that to her," I tell him. His expression grows confused.
"What are you talking about? You don't care who the girl is as long as she has a vag-"
"Please don't say that word, I hate it," I say. He outs his hands in surrender. "She's your sister, I wouldn't want to ruin our friendship cause I got with her."
He crosses his arms and looks at the TV. "Good. No offense, but she's too good for you." I grin but it falls soon.
"I know, that's another reason I don't try," I say. He glared at me. "Okay listen, your sisters stunning, beautiful. Anyone with eyes can see that, but I know my limits and she's crossing the line. Its like a bro-code thing that you don't get with their sister?"
His eyes narrow. "If you think she's beautiful, why do you say all those things that make her hate herself?" He asks. I look down at my ajnds, not sure how to answer. I don't know why I do that, maybe it's instincts, but I hate it.
"I honestly don't know," I answer. He stands up and walks go the kitchen.
"Venus and I are heading down to the beach tonight. You should come," he says.
"I might if I have time. I have a car I'm trying to finish and I want it over with. The lady gets on my nerves with all her calls. Of I'm done by tonight, I'll show," I tell him.
"Good, and if this helps at all...Venus has convinced Illi to come."

I pull up to the beach parking lot. Grease stains covers my hands from today's work, but there's nothing I can do about that. I get out of the truck and walk over to where Marcus said he and the girls were.
He waves me over. I run over to them. "Your not gonna surf?" He asks. I shake my head. Venus pulls on his arm with her board in hand. The run our into the water, not bothering to care if the water is freezing.
I look out in the distance and see Illi walking along the waterline. I run her and clap a hand on her shoulders. Her body tenses at my touch. It does that with anybody's.
"You really don't like getting out do you?" I ask. My eyes lock with hers.
"NO, I don't," she says ams turns to continue walking. I walk beside her.
"Why not?" She gives a look that says she wants me to shut up, but is too afraid to say it. "Sorry, I won't ask anymore stupid questions."
"It gives me anxiety, I've already told you that," she says. She walks into a bunch if trees. I hesitate before following. Does she even know where she's going? We're in the next town over from ours that's a lot larger and more crowded. I don't want to risk her getting hurt on my watch.
On the other side is a bridge. It has lines around the edges, making it dimly lit. "How do you know your way around so much?" She looks up at me.
"I thought you said you weren't gonna ask anymore questions," she says. I mumble something about being curious. "Curiosity killed the cat."
"Is that a death threat? Are you going to push me into the water so I drown?" I ask with a grin.  She looks a way from me and walks over to the edge, looking down at the fastly moving water.
"I'm from here, therefore, I know the streets. I used to come here and sit at the waterline right there and read when I was maybe twelve. It gave me time to clear my mind even though it made the beatings worse."
My eyes widen. The thought of someone harming her angers me, but I don't know why. "You were abused?" I ask.
"Depends on the type do abuse your asking about," she says, looking up at me. I stare into her eyes, taking in the amazing color.
Against myself, I find myself leaving into her, my lips growing closer and closer to hers. Her eyes drop to mine, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She moves her head at the last second. Her hair smells of roses.
"We should be getting back to them," she says in a whisper. I blink away the shock of what almost happened and step back.
"Yeah, your probably right." She gives me a small smile then walks away. I take a deep breath before following her. What the hell just happened?
