Darwin's POV

I looked everywhere at the airport but she was nowhere. Suddenly her sweet scent entered my nostrils and I realized that Katherine is somewhere near me.

Suddenly I caught the glance of her, standing with her family. She was looking more beautiful than before. Her hair had grown longer and her eyes- that pair of eyes were still the same. They still had that peace in them. I lowered my gaze to her lips and I saw them twisting into a smile while seeing me.

Suddenly my buried anger started boiling again. How can she act so happy after betraying me? Well, I ignored that and focused on my act, the act of staying cool and distant. I didn't want her to see that I'm worn out after what she did. And I didn't even want to run after her just to bother her perfect life.

She came running towards me and hugged me. That moment was out of the world. Everything around me disappeared and I hugged her back, pulling her more into me. I wanted to feel her for the last time. After that, I would make sure that I will be distant from her.

"I miss you so Damn much." she whispered in my ear. Wow sunshine, now you can lie to me too.

"You don't have an idea how much I miss you sunshine." I said honestly.

Mom, dad, uncle and aunt took another car and I sat with Katherine and Walter in Katherine's car. I stayed silent for the whole ride because I was least interested in faking my emotions.

She stopped the car in front of our house and I immediately stepped out of the car.

"See you later, sunshine." I poked my head from the window and said.

"Darwin come-" before she could finish her sentence, I walked straight in my house without even listening her reply. I was unable to take it any more so I decided to ignore her.

************

Aunt Sarah, Katherine's mother invited us for the dinner.

When I saw Katherine at the dinner, my breath became heavy. She still had a power to electrify my every cell without even touching but I was not the only one who was mesmerized by her look. She was staring me too. I wonder why.

"Done checking me out sunshine?" I said with a slight smirk.

"Umm no- I mean I was not checking you out." she tried to keep her posture confidently But failed miserably.

"Sure, whatever you say." I rubbed my chin and walked inside.

Everyone was chatting and throwing random questions at her way about studies. I listened to the every single detail carefully. I frowned when she didn't mention that detail.

After everyone got busy in stuffing their mouth, Katherine stood up and walked in kitchen. She came outside with a cake in her hand which she put on the table and cut a slice to put in my plate and then Aunt Sarah started serving it to the rest of them. I took a bite of it; I immediately recognized that the cake was not baked by Aunt Sarah. But it was beyond delicious. Maybe they had ordered it from the store.

I was eating the cake silently when Katherine dipped her finger on the chocolate which was dripping out from the cake and smeared it on my face.

That small act of her reminded me of our childhood and it also reminded me the loss which I received from leaving the city. That loss built inside me in the shape of anger and I saw her with pure hatred. I knew I was scaring her but at that moment, I didn't care about anything.

"What the hell do you think you're doing? I am acting polite towards you so it doesn't mean you can do such things with me. We are not kids anymore Katherine. Just stay away from me. Do you understand that?" she became frightened because of my sudden outburst.
