An Empty Life

She is not a mother
Yet she pretends to be one

He is not a father
And he'll probably deny that he's one

There's no love
It just feels so bare

She wants to be an analyst
But she'll never hold a stare

What has this become
The comfort in her smile has run thin

Having another child, when she couldn't raise her first two
Oh what a sin

Never understanding
Always pushing for what she has no right

It doesn't matter what you say
It'll always end in a fight

But they don't get it
How could they possibly understand

Hidden behind close doors
She snaps like a rubber band

And he
He doesn't care about her feelings at all

He never will
So she will continue to build her wall

The wall that shields her from the outside
It's become quite hard to disguise

He told her a lie
He's just like all of the other guys

The guys who use girls
The ones who seek out prey

She'll never believe him again
Not a single word that he'll say

I'm so sorry for everything
All the harm that I've caused

To bring up the pain
All the things that you've lost

But I wanted you to know
How you hurt me day after day

I'm tired of this
All the stupid games we play
