As she sits there
She runs her fingers through her hair

She's been up most the night
It's just not right

She looks so scared
He's not prepared

For her deep dark side
She shouldn't have to hide

All the suffering and pain
It's been driving him insane

He wants to know
He wants to show

That he can help
But she keeps it to herself
Keeps it on a shelf

Under lock and key
Why can't anyone see

She won't tell, to preserve his life
So she hides the knife

Till he goes back to sleep
Doesn't make a peep

And slowly fades into a world full of bright lights and black walls
No such thing as bathroom stalls

She finally gets to tell him
Except now without words
This time with a letter and a sword

She doesn't stick around for the hate
She jumps into another state

Where he died
She'll see him and make everything right
There will be no need to fight

He'll understand quite fine
She finally crossed the line

The same as he had done
It had not been fun

She finds him at the church
Leaning up against a big birch

He's as beautiful as ever
It's been ten years and she still can't remember
He'd said they'd be forever

She can't stand it
It just doesn't fit

She goes to turn away
Nothing to say

But he's there
And it just isn't fair

Her knees feel weak
Like they have been all week

His voice breaks into the void
'No no no. This is my fate, not yours. You can't be here.'

All she can see is fear
Built in his eyes
No more lies

'But I love you'
'And I love you, but I need you to go back.'

Looking at him now
She let her emotions flow
He wants her to go

But she won't say goodbye

He takes her hand
'Oh how I've missed you, but you don't belong here.'

She nods her head in agreement
She can see the sentiment

Guilt flashes across his face
He was the one that brought her to this place

'I just wanted to tell you one last time that it was not your fault, it was mine. Now it's time to say goodbye.'

Suddenly she can feel herself being pulled
Back to where she belongs

As she returns to her skin
How stupid she could of been

Her eyes are closed
But she can hear footsteps and she feels exposed

He's here
No more hiding
No more fear
As she opens her eyes, the light is blinding

She hears the beeping of her heart rate
And knows it's not too late

'Is this what was wrong?' he asked
'I just wanted to see him again.'

He nods his head knowingly and gives her a sympathetic look
'You know you usually don't get a lot of chances in life. Please be careful, we don't live in a fantasy book.'

'Is he ok at least?'
'He's the same old cocky loser.'

She lied to him and herself that day
Trying to shield herself from the pain she would convey

He slowly fades into the air
All she can do is stare

Until he's gone
Then she knows

As she drifts into sleep she hears him shout
'Is anybody out there?'

She doesn't answer

Knowing the truth

They both died that day
And so did her heart, nothing more to say
