Christa

We walk through mucky tunnels,

My feet slip and sink into the green,

Algie along the street,

It emerges along the rim of my

Abnegation gown.

I remain settle,

Watching my feet sink into the muck,

Until a large truck, with white shimmering doors,

Red, blue, and white flash from the roof, drives towards us.

I stop,

Letting it come to us.

A guy, walks slowly out and pulls a gun,

Pointing it,

"State your business." He yells.

He has black curly hair,

Long nose.

He is in a uniform of some sort.

But he looks frustrated.

"We escaped..." Says Tris.

He lowers his gun, his passenger door shields his body, he looks to the driver.

He nods, and speaks into a walkie-talkie, "one squad car, make it urgent."

Shocked.

"Well, your safe with us! Your one of the lucky ones!" He smiles.

Everyone smiles,

Except for me.

How do I know to trust this man,

Not two minitues ago heald a gun at me. I am always suspicious.

I dont know why,

I always expect the worse from everyone.

There is no safe place in this world.

Tris's fingers pull to her lips,

Her grey gown hovers over her figure as much as mine does to me.

Adams teeth are a grusome yellow,

That dims in the dark.

Johns teeth flash in the dark,

His stocky figure a blob of a silhouette

In the dark,

Janie, doesnt move, but bounces with cheer,

I stand.

I move over to Tris,

Shes the only one who'd understand.

"I dont trust them." I whisper to her. Looking from her to the truck.

"I dont think we have any other choice." She says.

I try to see whats in her eyes,

Hope.

Her hope for Four.

My hope for my father.

I realize that whatever they are,

They must not be worse than David.

What if they know my father?

I need to know about him,

What he looks like,

When I was younger my mother used to comb my hair with her fingers,

And sing me a song.

I would hum the rythm with her,

And look into her non-waivering

Iris's that are the same color as mine.

Then, when the moment was right,

Id slip my way into asking her about him.

She always stopped,

Frowned and walked away,

Leaving me,

Wide eyed and completely destroyed.

All I ever got out of her was his name:

Eric.

That is all I know.

As I stand here now,

I imagine him arising from

Wherever he may be,

Coming for me.

And Ill arise from here,

And go... Wherever he may be.

The "squad car" pulls up and grabs us in, they open the doors and Tris and I go first, the others in the truck.

I have never been in a car before,

I sink into the soft cushion,

My head finding the crisp glass.

I feel... Content here.

The slow moving motion as it glides on the road, cutting the air, around me.

Rain drizzles on the windows as we find the opening into above ground.

My eyes wide- looking at the same exact replica of down there,

But more alive.

My head clears, and all thoughts cease,

And that is all.
