Tina looked at herself in the mirror. It had been 9 months, maybe a little less and she was huge. Her stomach was large in front of her  and she was covered in bruises where Mathew had been beating her. Her hair was matted because she hadn't been caring too well for herself lately and even though she was made to be beautiful...she didn't feel beautiful. She felt like she had been used, she felt tarnished and dirty and lonely. She was not accustomed to loneliness but it was all she had been feeling lately. Mathew did not allow her to see her friends or to see Scarlet, he did not let her go to work and he did not like the baby. Every ounce on him was full of hatred for the child but there was nothing Tina could do about that. She had been raped, she found herself pregnant with a child and did not believe it was her right to take it's life away. She had hoped that Mathew would treat the baby  as if she were his own because he had been talking about how much he wanted a child but he didn't. Every time he looked at Tina he saw the baby and the stains of the man she slept with. She couldn't really go to the doctor because having a child was not as easy as getting a small job identity wise. She knew that the lab could not know of her child  and she would do everything in her power to protect her. She could not keep it because Mathew would hurt it, she could not so simply give it up because such documentation can be traced easily and the lab would know it was hers and so she had be inventive. She had snuck down the stairs one night and called Scarlet to ask her to help take the baby away where it would be safe and remain in the shadows, unknown to the scientists. Once again Tina looked at herself because she knew the time was coming, there was no way she could give birth in a hospital if she intended on letting Scarlet take it away. Instead she would have to give birth at home, alone and unaided. She felt a crippling pain in her lower abdomen and looked behind herself at Mathew who sat on the bed looking at her with angry eyes.

"I'm sorry." She whispered beneath her breath. But to who? Mathew? or the baby? She wasn't quite sure.

"Why is it coming already?" He groaned angrily, "We ought to have another week or so." She shrugged unsure and held on to her stomach.

"Babies come whenever they want." She saw him get up and begin to run the bath so that she could give birth in the tub- another thing he was not too happy about. This was very dangerous, especially because neither of them knew a thing about delivering babies. Mathew had requested the presence of a friend who did know about babies but they would not be arriving for at least another hour. They just had to hope the baby would not come before then. They also had to hope that Scarlet would successfully be able to deliver the baby to a family where it would be safe.

Tina's second pregnancy had been completely different. Since the birth of her first child the scientists only every found her once and she was sure they didn't know of Marley's existence thanks to Scarlet but they had to move and this pained her more than anything because she would moving away from Scarlet. Tina wanted Scarlet somewhere where she could talk to the parents that Marley had been given to and relay some of this information back to her and the scientists knew that Tina was married and alone so they were no longer looking for Scarlet so she had no reason to keep running. In light of this, Tina requested that Scarlet move closer to Marley while she and Mathew moved to Houston. Once the baby was gone and he didn't hear about it much, Mathew seemed to have forgotten he had ever been beating her. He acted like a prince in a fairy tale half the time. It was strange because Tina was already scared of him but he just stopped beating her. It was not until her second pregnancy that she realised how much he had changed. He would kiss her stomach and sing to it and she almost fell for it. She almost thought that he was perfect but she could never completely let herself go. This child she knew would be in any danger around Mathew but it was still not a good thing to put a baby in her life. In this child's life, however, she had absolutely no choice as to what happened to it because Mathew had already decided and she would not dare object. Mathew said she was to give birth in a hospital, she would be completely normal this time and they would keep their baby the way any other couple would. Perhaps they could have been normal for just a little while but Tina knew from the begining that something was not right. After a certain period of time she had begun to hear the baby's heart beat, then she began to feel it's emotions' then she could hear it mumble and within 5 months the baby was fully developed and ready to be born. This was the scariest part for the both of them, it didn't grow like Marley had grown. It grew faster and it did things that Tina couldn't do, it made things move. Tina told Scarlet of this and Scarlet had suggested the baby was defending itself against its crazy abusive daddy which really seemed like an appropriate idea because the baby didn't seem to like Mathew much. It usually pushed him away when he got too close.
