History liked to repeat itself, that was something Scarlet had learned when she was quite young. People made the same silly mistakes despite having already seen the consequences, events of the same type happened over and over again without anybody bothering to stop and thing about why it had to have happened again. No one learned. She didn't even learn. Now she had realised her own mistake. Who would have thought she'd make the same mistake two times in a row. Mathew had loved Tina but he had wanted to be her prince, her saviour and when he couldn't be that any more he became abusive and controlling. Shawn went from really being Beyoncé's hero to her partner and for some reason that wasn't enough for him. Men and their desire for power was a constant threat when she thought about it. Marley's dad, Marley's boyfriend, Mathew, Shawn, Shawn's dad and Hearty. All men who wanted control.

Scarlet sat in the library, working, and thought deeply about what she could have done to have seen this all earlier. She knew that she should have seen it before Beyoncé, but she didn't. Perhaps even she had been blinded by Shawn's soft and kind words the way Tina had been blinded by Mathew. Scarlet felt a figure standing over her and lifted her eyes to see Shawn stood above her. It had been a month since he and Beyoncé had broken up, it was now the middle of March and Blue was just over two months old. Scarlet and Shawn had spoken a lot in the last month, Scarlet and Beyoncé had spoken a lot, Scarlet and Marley had spoken a lot but somehow the four of them were never seen together. She felt a bit trapped sometimes, she was their shoulder to lean on and she was always in the middle of their arguments. She looked up at Shawn and smiled weakly at him,

"How are you?" Scarlet asked placing a book she had been pretending to read down on the counter.

"I'm good." Shawn smiled at her and nodded his head, "I read that book you suggested and It really helped put things into perspective." Scarlet had been helping Shawn a lot with his own mental problems. Shawn wasn't in particular need but he had harboured a lot of feelings from his childhood and adapted attitudes that he couldn't continue to have if he wanted to be with Beyoncé so he needed to change and understand why he was changing. Scarlet had recommend he read a book about child abuse and how it lead to abusive partners later in life. Of course he had seen a little bit of himself in it, at first he was offended by the idea insisting that he would never hit a woman but then he realised that his desire for  Beyoncé to be dependent on him was just the first step. He had read a lot of books, spoken about things he didn't particularly want to speak about and was understanding Beyoncé a lot more now.

"Have you spoken to her about it?" Scarlet asked as Shawn handed her the book and she checked it in.

"No." Shawn mumbled lowly, he never spoke to Beyoncé about it. Maybe it was because of his pride, maybe it was because he was embarrassed but that was what had gotten him into this mess in the first place.

"Shawn, you really should talk to her about your dad." Scarlet crossed her arms and looked up at him.

"She knows it all already, I told her months ago." He admitted, "I would talk to her but every time I try she's so distant- she doesn't believe a word I say any more." He sighed, "I don't have a lot of time anyway. I leave the house at 6, get home at 7 and I have to mark when I'm home anyway. I have to work so we can pay bills." Scarlet rolled her eyes at him and shook her head. "It's not just me, Bey works on Saturdays and Sundays now. She wants to make sure that there's always one of us with Blue but that means we're barely ever together anyway." Shawn defended him self but Scarlet didn't bother look at him, she knew he would come up with any excuse possibly not to admit that he was wrong.

"It's Friday today." She pointed out to him before looking over at the clock and then looking back at him. "You leave now ans You'll be home at 4, she should be putting Blue down for her nap and then you two can talk." Scarlet gave him a devilish smile and he groaned. "Just try and talk to her. Have a normal conversation with her, be proud of her and compliment her and just make her smile. It's not that hard." Shawn looked away from Scarlet and saw Marley walk through the Library door. He hadn't spoken to Marley at all, he didn't want to speak to her after he found out about what she and Nicki had said. Marley made eye contact with him and then sighed before Shawn kissed Scarlet on the head and then walked past Marley without saying a word.
