I walked with a little basket, carrying a bowl of soup for Sora. As soon as I was at his house I knocked on his door and waited. Moments later he called out to me from the back of his house.

"Fumiko!" He said smiling but in a tired breath and I noticed he was also sweating. "You're here already!?"

"Sora!" I interjected angrily. "You were working again, weren't you!?"

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't-"

I rushed over to him and grabbed him by the shoulder.

"You have to keep resting until you fully recover."

"I know," he nodded. "It's just hard sitting around, not doing anything."

I sighed a little and he grinned at me. "What were you doing anyways?"

"I was locking up my tools around back, I didn't want to lose them again."

"Wait, you mean they weren't stolen?"

"No," he shook his head. "I told you, animals run through these parts and they pull them away and bury them a few times. Thieves aren't to blame."

My face paled at that word.

Thieves.

"Sora? Do you feel any better?"

"I feel okay right now. Yesterday, I had the stitches removed."

He opened his shirt and showed me his chest. It stunned me that he was smiling as if the scars I was looking at were only bruises.

"Do they still hurt?" I asked brushing my finger over one.

"Just a little, but I'm not worried. They'll fade eventually. They always do."

I wasn't sure what came over me but I grabbed his chest and gave him a hug. Even though he was out of the hospital and healing I was still scared. I didn't want to lose him.

"Fumiko," Sora breathed silently, his chest rising and falling with my head against it. "I'm okay."

"I know," I was exhausted from the constant leaps my heart was making. "I just, I want to make sure you're safe."

Sora's gaze was sorrowful as he stared down at me, this man who seemed immortal and as strong as a god, was only human. I could lose him.

"I'm not going to leave you Fumiko, not unless you want me to."

"Does it hurt right now?"

"Huh?"

"Your chest? Do you take medication to deal with the pain?" I questioned while brushing my fingers against his scars.

"Yeah, now that you mention it, I haven't taken any since morning."

"Sora!"

"Don't worry, I will. I'll do it right now."

I headed onto his porch with him and he went inside and returned with his medications.

"I just have to take these." He said showing me two bottles. "One is for the pain and the other-"

"Just hurry and take them!" He stared at me blankly but I slowly watched a smile creep up on his face.

"Thanks for taking care of me."

"Arigato, also." He threw his head back and laughed and I took the bottles from him. "I also brought some soup for you. It's still warm so hurry and eat it."

He cocked his head to the side and smiled.

"Don't worry, I will. If not, I can just re-heat it later."
