"Fumiko, look at this!" Sora said warmly while holding up a picture frame. "This is me with my parents when I was a child."
Sora had a box in front of him with a few old things in it that he was showing me.
"Wow! Sora you look adorable!"
"Thanks," He rubbed the side of his head cutely and smiled even brighter at me. "I'm glad you think so."
I took the frame from his hand and stared at his father's picture. He was standing not far from him in the photograph with a tight lipped expression.
Surprisingly, he looked much different than I imagined him and a lot like Sora. This cold hearted man Sora talked about resembled him too much for me to understand how he was able to become so harsh.
Was this what Sora could possibly be like?
It was frightening to think but I knew I wouldn't let that happen because I was protecting his heart.
"Sora, is this your mom?" I asked while pointing to a woman standing to his left in the photo.
"Yes, she is."
"She's beautiful."
Her dark hair and pale skin contrasted beautifully and in a similar way to Sora's. The same went for her warm and heart melting smile but the exception was that she wore black rectangular rimmed glasses.
"You have her smile."
"I know, I wish I knew her better."
"You didn't?" I asked, curiously.
"I have a few memories of her but not many because she died when I was four. I don't know how she did, my father just told me she wasn't coming back home."
I blinked back a few tears brimming in my eyes because it moved me that he had to grow up without his mother. I wanted to tell him what Mrs. Saito told me happened to her but thought better of it. He needed to keep the innocence of her memory and I wasn't going to spoil it, at least not now.
"My father never talked about her much after that but I always remembered her even though we didn't get to spend much time together.
"Sora," I hugged him sweetly and he embraced me strongly, the way lovers should. "I'm here for you so you don't need to feel sad about that. You're everything I've ever wanted."
"Would you believe me if I said the same about you?"
"Yes."
I tipped up and Sora leaned forward to kiss me but I stopped him.
"Let me see what else your hiding first."
I went into the box with his old things and pulled out a photo with Sora and a few other people.
"Who are they?" I asked him.
"Wow! I haven't seen this in a long time!" He laughed. "Fumiko, this is a picture of me and my friends when we were in high school."
I took the photo and smiled when I realized how young and cute he looked.
"You all look very happy."
"We were, not everything was bad about the city."
I stared at the photo again when I noticed the girl sitting next to Sora was holding his arm tightly.
"Sora, who's this girl?" I asked while pointing to the photo.
"Naomi."
"Oh."
