I pulled my knapsack up on my back as I walked through the pelting sun. The sun was Surprisingly hot for the early days of spring but I shrugged it off because I knew Sora worked in harsher conditions than this. I wanted to be like him, to have a little of his strength.
Though I had to admit I was worried about him. No one should have had to work under those conditions. I blew back the tendril of hair that was lying in my face out of the way as I walked up to his house.
I sighed softly when I looked around and saw that there was no one there so I took a seat on the steps of the porch.
He was out working again.
I nearly cursed under my breath but decided not to because Sora wouldn't have liked that. I knew I would have to wait for an hour or more until he came back or I would probably have to go out and look for him but common sense told me that he wouldn't be out for long under this sweltering heat. He had to eventually come back and rest or at least cool off.
After about two or so minutes of waiting around I began feeling bored so I got up and started pacing around the porch. That was when I noticed that his front door wasn't locked.
"Sora" I whispered heatedly to myself. It was careless of him to walk out and leave his front door open so I went to close it.
He was probably in such a hurry to start working he forgot about it.
I swear, one of these days he's going to pass out...
My eyes widened when I saw that Sora was lying on the floor of the hall on his back unmoving.
"Sora!" I screamed. I ran up to him and quickly fell on my knees before breathing a sigh of relief when I saw that he was okay.
"Fumiko" he said pushing himself up off the ground. "You startled me"
"I'm sorry but what where you doing lying on the floor?" I had to ask.
I smiled at Sora who only laughed and tilted his head to the side.
"I was um...just tired"
"Well then you should've just slept in your room instead of on the floor."
"I know, I know" There was longing in Sora's voice as he spoke, a distant look passing over his face. " It's just that whenever I have a hard day of work, I like to lie here and think about it. I've been doing this since I was a child." Sora's eyes clouded over with sadness before he straightened up himself. "So Fumiko how are you"
I sat back on heels and paused at how quickly Sora had pushed that away and instead turned his attention to me.
I said nothing in return and soon an extended silence filled the room.
"Sora" I said breaking the silence that was forming around us. "Tell me about your father"
Sora's eyes widened when he heard my question and his head quickly snapped towards me.
He slowly stared down at his hands, his eyes shadowed making it unclear to me what he was thinking.
I wanted to know about his past and his pain, and I wanted him to tell me. I knew it was inquisitive of me and I had told myself that I would wait for him to open up but it had been over six months since we'd known each other and I still knew little to nothing about him.
"Sora?"
"I-" He began before I stopped him.
"It's okay if you don't want to tell me"
"No, it's alright" He said wiping his forehead with his hand. That was when I noticed that it had something tied to it that looked like a bandage.
"Sora what happened!?" I said yanking his hand away from his forehead. I took it and rested it on my lap before examining the poorly dressed wound and bandage. "Sora" I chided "You cut yourself"
