Isabella's POV
'See it turning red like a bullet through the chest laying it down to rest it's a lover's final breath'
"I'm sorry Isabella, you are now at the top of the list" Dr Sullivan announced. He doesn't really treat me much anymore cause this disease is not his speciality, but he always lets me know what's going on. And he's always checking up on me. When you pretty much live in the hospital it's good to know someone cares.
"How long do I have before its life or death" I looked him straight in the eye and asked in a low voice.
"Two weeks"
"Thank you"
He walked out of the ward and the news started to sink in. I had basically two weeks to live unless they found a donor. I thought of Jay. Once when he had a skating accident he'd lost so much blood that I had to donate some of mine to him. It was strange, but he and I had the exact blood type and neither of our parents were a match. Well, he wasn't here to donate his kidney, cause I knew he would in a heartbeat. And so it meant that I'd be seeing him pretty soon. I had barely lived yet I was dying. I pictured Jay's smile and I could still hear his laugh and somehow he felt so close. Like a part of me was already with him. But then the other part of me woke up, the part that needed to stay alive for one reason above all others, Liam.
"Just hold my hands and kick as hard as you can" he instructed and I cautiously removed one of my hands from the side of the pool and placed it in his. At eleven his hands were already bigger than mine and he was starting to lose the baby face a little.
"Ooh I can't do this" I squealed still holding on the edge of the pool with my other hand.
"Aww c'mon Jess don't be a big baby, you've got this"
"Fine" I took a leap of faith and place my hand in his and started kicking my legs as fast as I possibly could. He led me into the deepest part of this pool until I was utterly at his mercy. And then he let go of one of my hands.
"Liam NO!" I yelled and grabbed on to his arm.
"Its fine Isabella, you do have floats on" he laughed.
"Oh yeah, but don't let go of my hands yet"
"Okay" he laughed.
And that was pretty much how I felt when he walked into my hospital room that afternoon.
Liam's POV
'Got the news today
The doctor said I hadta stay
A little bit longer
And I'll be fine'
She'd been in the hospital so long that I actually knew most of the nurses and doctors. And they greeted me when I came in. They didn't do that before cause apparently doctors don't have time for boy bands. I walked into her room and was greeted by the biggest smile yet.
"Hey you" she was obviously very happy to see me.
"Hellos" I gave her a quick kiss.
"Come here" she'd scooted over and was now patting the bed beside her inviting me to lie down. I obliged of course, cause there was no way I was gonna turn down a pretty girl inviting me into her bed. I put my arm around her and she wrapped both hers around my waist and rested her head against my chest. We just sat there in silence for a few minutes and I didn't mind at all. It felt good to have her in my arms for a little while.
"Li..."
"Yeah babe?"
"Thanks for coming"
Why would she be thanking me? I mean the only reason I wouldn't be there for her was if I was on tour. And since we had a break now there was nothing that could keep me away. I kissed the top of her head and she held on to me even tighter.
"I'm dying" she mumbled into my shirt.
"Iz...you're not-" I started but she cut me off.
"I am dying; I'm at the top of the list for a kidney. And if I don't get one within two weeks I'll be dead" she looked up at me, her eyes filled with tears and I realised she hadn't told anyone else. I didn't know what to say and I didn't have much time to think about, cause just then the nurse walked in. I had to get off the bed and stand off to the side while she gave Isabella her meds.
Isabella's POV
"It'll be okay" It was all he said, but I didn't need anything more. All I needed was for him to sit there with me holding my hands. I didn't need him to lie to me or pretend that this wasn't such a serious thing. And he wasn't, his face clearly showed his concern and his eyes were watery.
"Tell me about tour" I said changing the topic. I never like to mope for too long it's just sad.
"It’s ace, you'd love it!" I could see the excitement on his face now as he started describing it to me.
"The best feeling in the world is when you hear the crowd singing along. It's hard to explain"
"I can imagine"
We spent the rest of the day just chatting about stuff and even though I was pretty ill, it felt just like we were kids again.
