Okay so I have been waiting to post this but was too lazy
I got braces about 3 and a half months ago and they are FUCKING ANNOYING THEY ARE IRRITATING THE CRAP OUT OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First I got them, and I managed to break them about eight times
1. Band popped off
2. Wire snapped
3. Wire broke a bit
4. Another band came off
5. Wire broke again
6. Wire came out
7. While pulling wire out another band popped off
8. Somehow a bracket came off (Well I was eating a lollipop)
Yep that's eight
But anyway, then I went back and Steve, my orthodontist (no joke) decided he wouldn't put the wire back in because it would come out again.
So he put this band chain stuff on, which for those of you who don't know is a bunch of those O-rings (coloured bands) stuck together... oh just type it into google images, "BRACES CHAIN"
Anyway he put it onto the front top four because one of my teeth (don't know what it's called, but the one next to the big front one) was sideway. Both were but the one on my left more than the one on my right.
But that meant that my other top teeth didn't have anoything on them, so they started rubbing. On the inside of my mouth.
So that was fun...
Also he replaced the bracket that I had lost (the bracket is the thing that is glued to your tooth) and then as soon as I got home, I was starving so I had some toast or something and it... immediately came back off.
Yeah.
Anyway, a few days ago (I think Monday...??) I got them tightened and redone. New wires, new bands, everything.
He decided that he WOULD replace the top wire, but NOT the bracket. The bracket was the very back one BTW. Also I now have a full length of chain on the bottom. I wanted blue and orange but they could only do one colour of chain, so it is blue.
I said I wanted equal orange and blue, but they could obviously only do blue on the bottom, so they decided to alternate blue and orange on the top. However, they also affixed some special non-coloured thing to the really bad tooth (the sideways one next to the front one) and my canines (the next ones along) are still baby teeth so have no brackets on them. So when you look at my mouth, the bottom is blue and the top has ONE Orange and the rest blue. Basically. When you look closely some of the further back ones are orange but they don't count. It looks really weird.
However, I require elastic bands, so there are hooks on the bracket to hold them (lucky I don't have the freaking bands yet). So because the bracket that I lost was at the very back, and the hooked one is second to the back, now the hook is just hanging loosely. And bloody stabbing my cheek. And hooking on it. And making a freaking hole in my mouth. It's tearing and rubbing away the skin or whatever the hell is on the inside of my mouth, and so there is a spot thing on my mouth that has a bunch less layers of whatever the hell it is and it continually sting and just HURTS!!!
I just started Year 9 and have to have them until the end of year 10 so yeah, fun.
Also when I'm seventeen ish I have to have surgery to correct my underbite thingo. They shutter the jawbone and then realign it. Very comfortable.
So that's my fun braces story... feel free to share yours in the comments!! And Chloey don't you dare say "I DON"T NEED BRACES" because we all know and are jealous. Congrats. IF YOU DO NOT NEED BRACES JUST SAY SOMETHING RANDOM please comment but don't make me feel worse because I need them!
Now just some general braces things that I either know or have heard:
- When you first get them on they will feel weird and pointy and sore as fuck. Get over it, I promise you WILL get used to them.
- When you get them tightened/changed/fixed they will also be sore. Mine were so bad I had to stay home from school!!
- Apparently when you get them off your teeth feel slimy.
- DO NOT YAWN WHEN YOU HAVE ELASTIC BANDS ON it hurts like a bitch
- Pick your colours right!!!
- Tell your orthodontist if something hurts or doesn't fell right; start out your whole experience but asking loads of questions and they will hopefully learn to keep you informed!!
- Actually take care of them. It gets really gross and hard
- However when you first get them on eating and brushing them (or talking or basically anything to do with your mouth) REALLY HURTS
- Icecream and ice helps but make sure they have no coating or anything eg chocolate around your icecream because that is a bugger to bite into
- Do what feels right. If they break they break, but if it hurts too much it is not worth it!
- However apparently in the end all the pain and shit will be worth it because you'll have a gorgeous smile and all that gooey stuff.
- But I don't think so
Anyway, that is just my opinion on the fucking metal staple-like thing they glue to the things you use to consume the fucking nutrition you need to fucking survive for like two fucking years or so (my brother has had his for about 5 years because he doesn't take care of them). FUN!!
Again comment your opinions in the comments down below and don't forget to vote!!
I'm going to go find something to stop this rfucking painfulness now. Some Nutella maybe?
Actually no I don't wanna ruin Nutella for myself.
