Okay, I haven't been in a lot of serious relationships (read: 0). However, there are some rules that are pretty obvious to this lonely teenager.
Note: These aren't really rules. More like... guidelines. With commentary. And bitterness
1. Be affectionate you dumb fuck. If you don't like them enough to be nice you don't fucking deserve them
2. Henry Burns airport rule states that if you once took your girl to the airport, don't stop. First of all don't take her to the fucking airport you twat that ain't romantic (unless you're buying her duty-free perfume or something). But if you guys used to order in chicken wings and watch three episodes of Pretty Little Liars on Sunday nights, keep doing that.
3. Go to bed angry because it's better to quit the argument angry and take a break than say things that you'll regret.
4. End every fight with "I love you" so that you both know it's just a comma, not a full stop.
5. Don't be sexist you motherfucking retard. I know I usually add the comments in normal writing but this one is the most important for me. Sexism is a huge deal breaker.
6. Make them laugh. This one is also really important.
7. Include them in your friendship group. Obviously you should have a few separate friends, but include each other.
8. Understand the order of relationship. While dating it's family/friends/boys and then the more serious it gets, until it goes boys/friends/family.

10. Trust your instincts because if something feels really wrong, then it probably is
11. Have the tough conversations. Talk about your future, your standards, your problems.
12. Don't go too fast. This is why I dumped my last guy. He said the L word at like 10 days! That shit is terrifying.
13. If you wouldn't get a dog with them don't get a house or baby with them. Simple.
14. Make it special. Make things feel special and magical, especially the 'firsts' and risks.
15. But don't stress too much. Obviously putting in effort is important, but don't sweat everything. A relationship is meant to be easy and natural, and if you feel the need to kill yourself impressing your S/O then it is not working.
