I walk out of my apartment towards the street corner. I scroll through Twitter absent-mindedly, so I don't have to make eye contact with everyone staring at me. I'm going to be who I am, of course, but that doesn't mean I'm mentally prepared for the public's reaction (and criticism).I'm meeting up with my best friend, Avery, to chat.
We go through our daily routine. She says "Hey Andie, I like your outfit" And I say "You better, I got all dressed up for our date today". She laughs her adorable laugh, and then I say "Now buy me coffee, hoe."
After a few moments of silent coffee drinking, she clears her throat and gives me an interesting look.
"Sooo.....Andie. There's this guy in my Japanese History class..."
I roll my eyes. "Oh my gosh, Avery. How many times do I have to tell you? I'm not going to fall in love with any random person you meet "for me" just because they're gay. Unless their dick is like... 3 feet long." I laugh.
"But wait! No, Andie, he's HOT. I'm a lesbian, and even I find him tasty." Avery winces. "Or, uh, attractive, or whatever."
I scoff, folding my arms at the table. "You got a pic?"
She hands her phone to me.
I take a look and I... uh, wow. There's a lot of... emotions.. going through me right now. I study his facial features, already painting a portrait in my head. I swear, one look at his face and I can already imagine us...being great friends! Geez, I need to slow down. I'm a creep.
"Oh my goodness... what's his name?"
Avery chuckles. "Xavier. Do you... wanna meet him?"
I shook my head vigorously, still staring at his face on the phone. "Yes!"
