The next day I work almost all day at the CCPD. Barry hasn't come all day and I am starting to wonder why. I grab my phone and turn it on. Nothing happens. I try again and it flashes the no batter screen. I sigh and throw it back into my bag. I continue to type up and finalize reports as the day goes on. No meta cases all day which is weird, usually there is at least one.
Somehow the stack of files never seems to get any smaller. I eat my pasta cold in front of my computer for dinner continuously tapping away at my keyboard.
Finally at 6:00pm all the reports are done and I'm free to leave. I hop onto my motorbike and drive over to STAR labs. I walk into the cortex and everyone gives me a weird look.
"What did I do?" I ask innocently as everyone seems to judge me.
"We all texted and called you like ten times each. Where were you and why didn't you answer?" Joe asks.
"My phone died" I say very unimpressed. "Guys if it's really that important and I'm not answering you come get or phone the office" I say and then they all avert their eyes from me. "What's so important?"
"We found out who Zoom is" Barry says and turns to Caitlin.
"When I asked about his doppelgänger for the cure I was making he told me their names where different because he was adopted on Earth-2" Caitlin says.
"Yes, turns out that helped us find his really identity. On Earth-2 Zolomon was orphaned when he watched his father kill him mother. He later on became a serial killer and the night of the particle accelerator he was getting electro therapy" Wells explains.
"Makes sense how he got his powers" I say and trail into silence. "How are gonna stop him?"
"Were going to use photos of his parents to throw him off his game" Barry says and I nod slowly.
"The rest of us will hide in the room the old Dr. Wells made and Barry will use it on Zoom once he's beaten him. Cisco and I have also perfected the tachyon device and it should help Barry go faster" Wells says. Cisco stands up and holds up a pair of funky looking glasses.
"I can open a breach" Cisco says and I give him the thumbs up.
"When are we going to do this?" I ask.
"Tonight" Barry says then looks over the his suit.
* * *
I stand with my suit on waiting anxiously in the white room. I have to keep concentrated as I am creating a forcefield around the room we're in. Iris is holding the tablet tracking Barry's movement and coms.
"Okay open the breach Cisco, you go this" I hear Barry say through the coms.
"Thanks for always believing in me" Cisco says. I continue to watch the blue energy swirl around the walls of the room. I stand alert and focused on the energy I am expending.
"Zoom is here" I hear Iris say and it has started.
"The tachyon device is working" Caitlin says.
"That was close though" Joe says worried.
"Here they come" Wells says and stands beside me. "Are you ready?"
"Yes" I say and he nods his head. Iris and Caitlin stay behind us and keep and eye on Barry.
"It's working" I hear Barry say and that's my signal to let down the field. There is a flash and Wells' meta-human gun is gone. I put the shield back up and hope for the best.
"NO" I hear Barry yell and I shut my eyes and stand calmly keeping us safe. I concentrate and hear Barry over the coms again. "He got away".
* * *
Barry runs me to the West's house for a late dinner after I changed out of my suit. We arrive just as Joe and Iris are opening the door as I step in I freeze. The house is a mess and we all know right away Zoom was here. Joe loads his gun and blue energy collects around my hands. Barry runs up stairs and we search down here.
"Wally" Joe yells as he walks slowly through the house.
"Up here" Barry yells and we all run up the stairs. Across the wall in a black writing is: YOUR SPEED FOR WALLY. I turn to look at Barry read his face easily, he's blaming himself. I wrap an arm around his waist and slowly turn him towards the door. He drops onto the couch and puts his face in his hands. I kiss the top of his head.
"You've got a lot to think about" I say and he nods slowly.
