*Kat's P.O.V*
I look over at Kaden smiling, he walks over.
"You just couldn't keep your eyes off,"Kaden said grinning.
I laugh "Well a piece of your hair isn't staying with the rest." I joked.
"Wait really,"Kaden asked?
"No I'm kidding,"I said laughing.
The song lady in red comes on.
"May I have this dance,"Kaden asked putting his hand out for me to grab.
"Haha sure,"I said.
He takes me out to the dance floor, and I lay my head on his shoulder as the song played.
"You know you're wearing red,"Kaden said. "You're the lady in red."
I giggled "There are plenty girls wearing red here."
"Yes but you're my favorite,"Kaden said smiling.
He twirls me, and I fall back into his arms as we look into each other's eyes smiling. We dance to the music everything felt so romantic.
"You're a good dancer,"I said to him.
"Well you're a perfect partner,"He said to me smiling.
"Why is it when I'm with you everything seems.... well it seems like time just stops,"I said.
"I guess you'll have to figure it out for yourself,"He said.
I smile big as my heart explodes. This moment in time was perfect I never wanted it to end.
"Did you ever really love me,"I asked him?
"I did.... A lot,"He said. "You're the one that got away."
He pulls me close to him, and puts the hair falling to my face behind my ear. I look at him smiling "I love you,"He whispered." We lean in for a kiss as the song ends, but he doesn't let it happen.
"I....i..i. I can't,"He said walking away from me.
I put my hand on my head, and walk over to get a drink, when Josh comes over.
"Kat we need to talk,"Josh said.
I couldn't look at him I didn't wanna talk to anyone, but I guess whatever. Kaden just broke my heart again.
"Fine,"I said. "Take me away."
He held my hand as he lead me outside. We sat on a bench, and he smiled at me. I started crying, and he hugged me.
"I'm assuming this is about Kaden,"He asked?
"No,"I said lying.
"I know when you're lying I've been with you for 2 years I've got this down, and that's the cry you have whenever your heartbreaks,"Josh said.
"I've made my decision,"I said.
"Oh,"Josh said looking away sadly.
I look at him "Josh I pick you."
"Wait really? Don't do this cause you're heart broken,"He said.
"I'm not,"I said.
"Well I was hoping you'd say that or else this would mean nothing,"He said getting down on one knee.
I see everyone pop out, outta nowhere including Kaden, then everyone is holding a part to a poster that completes the sentence Will. You. Marry. Me. While someone else throws confetti or some crap over us, and turns on music.
"So will you marry me,"Josh asked?
I cry harder! Why now!
"Sure why not,"I said.
He smiles putting the ring on my finger and kisses me. Kaden looks over at us with a pain in his eyes he was part of the plan.
"Kaden helped with this we've been planning it all day, and I told him to go distract you while we got this set up,"Josh said.
That's why he didn't kiss me. I fake a smile "This is incredible, thanks."
Abie walks up to me "So you picked Josh after all."
"Yup,"I said as my heart died.
"Good I knew you'd come through,"Abie said.
Isabel wasn't here I wonder where she was though. She couldn't have missed my well what's it called engagement. I needed to talk to her. Kaden walks up to me.
"I'm sorry about earlier, I shouldn't have,"Kaden said.
I smile at him not even meaning anything I say anymore "It's alright."
"Yeah it's just he finally considers me not an enemy, and he's been so excited planning this proposal all day, I didn't wanna ruin it,"Kaden said.
"Okay,"I said walking away.
He could've stopped me. He could've told me how he felt. He could've kissed me. I could've picked him, but now it's too late.
I run back into the school. where's my best friend when I need her. I go to the bathroom and lock the door. I cry my heart breaking into a billion pieces.
*Abie's P.O.V*
"Mason I need to talk to you,"I said pulling him away where no one could hear.
"Really? I need to talk to you too,"He said frowning.
"Well, I just don't think we are gonna work,"We said at the same time.
"Wait really you thought that too,"I asked?
"Yeah it's just I suddenly noticed I don't really love you. Ok that sounded horrible. You're amazing and great, but I think we were just caught in the moment everyone had someone except for us, and my girlfriend had just left me. I was just looking for something to make me forget about the hole in my heart. Truth is you helped, but soon everything came crashing back. I need to focus on myself ever since my brother died I haven't been the same, I'm gonna focus on school, then maybe after that I'll consider dating, but I know we aren't meant for each other it was just a fling,"Mason said.
"Woo. I thought I was gonna have to make up some crap to say guess I don't. Well it was nice while it lasted thanks for whatever the flip that was,"I said relieved.
Mason laughs "Wow really. See I do love you just not like that."
"Haha I love you too,"I said.
"Friends?"He asked.
"Friends,"I said.
"Good now let's go ruin people's lives together,"Mason said.
"Yess see we are always gonna be partners in crime,"I said putting our necklaces together.
"Ohhh yeah for sure forever and always,"Mason said.
We go hide as we scare people leaving the prom. That was the best night I had ever had.
