This isn't very long but I kinda like it? Tell me your thoughts. Hopefully you'll enjoy.

No dedication because I did this all on my phone and I do not have the patience to do a dedication.

I'm addicted to updating this book. RIP my already non-existent social life.

Words: 971 (Short but eventful!)

My step-mother was tapping her foot angrily when I finally walked into the house.

Diane was sitting on the couch with a worn out copy of a book rested on her chest, smirking in my direction.

And my step-father was resting on a stool, watching it all play out.

"How dare you report me for child abuse to the Queen's relatives! Child abuse? I did not abuse a child! The only child in this house is Diane and I have never laid a hand on her before!"

Ah, the reaction I was waiting for. Diane continued to watch her mother scream at me and her dad had a slight frown on his face.

"I did not report you. I have not even told anyone. I never disclose any information that goes on in this house with anyone for it is not their business. A citizen could have seen it and reported it," I suggested. I refused to rat Drew out. He was the only person my age who talked with me daily.

"That is a lie, Zayn. You are lying," she shook her head and tutted softly.

"I promise you, mother. I speak no lie." I bowed my head respectfully.

"I saw you with that boy, Zayn."

I looked up to see my father standing near Ivy, he had an intense frown on his face.

"That boy you called 'Drew', he saw the mark and when he questioned you, you told him the truth." He spoke quietly almost like he did not want to believe it himself.

Diane was trying to contain her laughs as she picked her book back up and tried to continue her reading.

"Father I promise I did not say anything. He asked and I told him I just fell. I would never do that to this family, my family."

He scowled and stepped forward. "Boy, do not lie to me. I heard you tell him. I was in the bakery earlier today." He took a deep  breath and closed his eyes for a second. After letting the breath out, he spoke calmly, "That is not what I am upset about. I am upset about the fact that you know someone who knows the Queen's relatives. How did you, a lowly servant, meet him?"

I shook my head in amusement, "Father, he is not related to the Queen in any way. He just happens to be a citizen in this town. Although I am surprised he has the money to afford so much food."

"Do not continue to lie to me Zayn. And do not continue to avoid the question, how do you know him?"

I sighed and shook my head, running my fingers through my ever growing hair and leaning on to the wall, "He came up to me a few nights ago. He knew my name and when I asked him for his, he was shocked I did not know it. Although you do not seem to know him either, I guess I should not worry about that. But to answer your question, that is how I know him. He has been approaching me daily. We talk, that is all. I promise you."

My step-mother laughed bitterly, "You are not to associate with this boy, Drew as you call him, anymore. I want you two to have no contact. If I see you two together, you better hope that the Gods take pity on you. You are not worthy of knowing some as high class as him." She gave me a extremely threatening glare.

I hid my fear behind a gulp, "Yes, mother."

"Tomorrow you will apologize to him for all the pain you have caused him," she started.

"I-I have not caused him pain," I was confused.

"You have, you just being in his presence has caused him extraodinary pain. Now do not interrupt me again. As I was saying tomorrow you will tell him you want no contact with him and you will tell him you are sorry for associating with him. And after you will introduce Diane to him. She will work her magic and make him fall in love with her. They shall be wed." She smiled and looked off in the distance like she was picturing a beautiful marriage.

"But mother, he is at least 23. Would Diane not like to marry someone her own age?"

Her head whipped my way and she laughed a sarcastic laugh. "You poor uneducated boy, people do not marry for age or love these days. They marry for secureness in wealth and power."

My mouth fell open and I glanced at my father who was once again silent through the whole thing, his eyes just watching his wife.

Diane was also sitting in the chair, seeming to have no care that she was basically forced into an arranged marriage.

"As long as he is gorgeous, I have no care in his age. I refuse to wed someone hideous," Diane stated.

Well she is lucky there, he is very easy on the eyes.

Wait, what did I just say?

"Go to your room Zayn. Prepare to end whatever communications you have with this boy tomorrow. I want no fight from you," she pursed her lips. "Do not worry about breakfast, I am feeling a bit generous from devising such a brilliant plan. You have all of tomorrow morning to plan a way to make him have no interest in you. Go now before I change my mind." She waved her hand.

I immediately ran for my stairs and could hear my mother and sister shrieking in happiness.

And when I finally collapsed on my uncomfortable bed, I let a few tears fall from my eyes as I realized I would be losing the only friend I truly had.
