I took Daryn out of his car seat and set him down before grabbing his hand to walk inside of the barbershop. This would be his first haircut, but he wouldn't be having anything major done. Candace is obsessed with his curls, so I opted to just get him an edge up, and maybe even an undercut.

We walked inside of the empty barbershop and was greeted by my barber Jay. I've been coming to him since I've moved to Miami and he never disappoints me. And he always closes the shop down whenever I have an appointment so that I won't have to wait or deal with any fans inside.

"Wassup Jay." I greeted, walking over to him and dapping him up with Daryn trailing behind me.

"Sup Rome."  Jay replied as he set up his station. "What you getting done today?"

"I just want the usual. Small cut and a edge up." I told him as I took off my cap. "And as for little man..." I said while looking down at Daryn and rubbing his head. "I know I want him to get an edge up for sure. Wifey doesn't want all of his curls cut yet so I'm thinking an undercut fade."

"This gonna be his first cut too right?" Jay asked me.

"Yeah." I smiled proudly.

"You excited?" Jay asked Daryn, leaning down to his level.

"Yeah. Daddy say watch him." Daryn said before taking a sip of his juice from his sippy cut.

"I'm gonna go first so that he can watch me so that he won't be scared." I told Jay as I set my cap down in a chair and sat down in his barber seat.

"Good, you don't know how many people come in here with their kids and they be scared and screaming." Jay shook his head while putting the cape over me.

Daryn ended up climbing up the barber seat that was beside the one that I was in and watched me while sipping on his juice. I'm glad he wasn't one of those super wild kids because I didn't have time to be chasing after him all of the time. Occasionally he would be rambunctious but for the most part, he was calm, playful, and sociable.

"So what's been going on with you?" Jay asked me a little after he started on my hair.

"Not much. Just basketball and family." I replied. "Candace and I have been planning for our wedding."

"I thought you two were already married?" Jay asked with slight confusion in his voice.

"We are but we never had a wedding, we only eloped. But now Candace wants to actually have a real ceremony so we're gonna renew our vows and have a reception after that, like a real wedding." I chuckled.

"Happy wife, happy life." Jay joked while I laughed.

"Pretty much." I replied in agreement. "I'm just giving her what she wants."

"Nothing wrong with that." Jay told me before handing me a mirror so that I could look at my hair.

I looked at myself, liking what I saw. "Good looks." I told him, setting the mirror down while he took the cape off of me before I got up.
