"Mommy!" I heard Daryn cheer as he ran down the hall and inside of the kitchen to me.

"Hi baby." I enthusiastically said, lowering myself to his level and giving him a bear hug.

"Hey sis." Caleb greeted as he walked into the kitchen.

I furrowed my eyebrows upon seeing him, expecting for Rome to come in. "Hey, what are you doing here?" I questioned, giving him a quick hug.

"Rome was waiting to pay for the tuxedos and Daryn was starting to get hyper so I offered to take him home since I planned on talking to you about something." Caleb told me, sitting down at the island.

"Juice." Daryn told me while I nodded my head.

"What did you want to talk about?" I asked Caleb, taking out a juice box and apple slices for Daryn.

He let out a small sigh before speaking. "It's about uncle Terrance." He said as I stopped in my tracks upon hearing my uncle's name.

I gave Daryn the juice box and pack of apple slices. "Go eat this at the table okay?" I told him as he nodded his head and went to the dining room to eat. "What about him?" I asked Caleb.

"Dad was talking to Aunt Linda the other day when I was over there. Apparently she was snooping through Uncle Terrance's stuff and found out some things. He was involved with members of this real popular drug cartel back home. I'm starting to think that maybe they had something to do with his death." Caleb told me while I nervously bit down on my bottom lip.

"Well, what else do you know?" I curiously asked.

"Not much. Pops seems to know something though, but he's not trying to spill it." Caleb told me.

Once again, a family full of secrets. It wouldn't surprise me if my dad did know more about this situation. Things were always just so sketchy with him while I was growing up. But this wasn't something that I wanted to continue discussing, maybe because I already know who the killer is. But I know my family wants closure. They need it.

"I just wish we could all move past this." I sighed.

"What do you mean?" Caleb furrowed his eyebrows.

"It's been ten years Caleb... We keep trying to figure out who killed him and always run into a dead end. We need to leave it alone... It's draining." I said, apprehensive about his response.

"How can you say that?" Caleb questioned. "He was your uncle too you know. Don't you want to know who did it?"

"Yeah it would've been nice to know ten years ago. But now, it's like what are we gonna accomplish?" I paused while he stayed quiet. "It'll only be like "Yay! We found out who killed him. Woohoo!" And then what Caleb? We go back to living our lives. Still mourning and confused as to why it happened. What difference will it truly make?"

"I can't believe you." Caleb shook his head as he stood up.

"Look, I know the family is passionate about this and I respect that. And I'm not trying to downplay the way y'all feel. But me, personally, does not care anymore. People die everyday. Life will still go on. And you know Uncle Terrance would've said the same thing." I said as Caleb grabbed his keys and walked out of the kitchen as I saw Rome about to walk into the kitchen. I didn't even hear the front door open.
