I just got home from school.
Everything went well yesterday . Today is a new day and that means I have a whole new mindset. "Daddy, can you come here real quick?," I asked my dad.

We're currently in one of guest rooms redecorating because my grandma is coming to live with us for a while and she suggested we make a few changes to her room.

My father wiped his hands , walking towards me and smiled. "What you want?," he asked me.

I kicked the duffle bag that was beside me at his feet. "I have to give back to the men that kept me on track," I said.

My dad unzipped the bag and looked at the money. "I don't need this", he said.

"But you're going to take it," I responded.

My dad sighed, "I don't want to take your money".

I shrugged my shoulders, "You know I don't care about the money at the end of the day".

He raised an eyebrow, "Since when?".

I laughed , "I'm lying but you know you deserve this".

"Why do I deserve this money?".

"You're a good dad and you're always doing things for me," I responded.

"I do things for you because you're my baby girl  and you will always be my baby girl," he said.

"You're my father and the king of this household," I said and then I paused for a second. "I'm always making bad decisions but this decision right here is a good one, dad".

"Please take the money," I said.

"I'm not going to take it," he said.

My eyes started to water and I held my head down.

My father lifted my chin with his index finger and said, "You don't owe me shit, baby girl. "I just want you to make me proud ".

"I'm going to make you proud," I said, wrapping my arms around him and resting my chin on his shoulder.

My father rocked my side to side, "I can't wait to see you walk across that stage ". He kissed my forehead and smiled at me.

"I'm so ready ," I said.

We sat like that for a while. This moment is the moment , I realized blood is thicker than water and money doesn't go above that.
