"Really? Xo's your big 'expert'?", I stare at Phoenix blankly, "I could've thought of that".

"Yeah well you didn't, so shut up and listen", He chides, shoving me to the nearest arm chair.

"That's rule number one by the way. Humans love to call each other bitches. Especially the girls and gays", Xiomara continues as if no one spoke. Her tone serious as she throws down her duffel bag on top of the coffee table, in the living room.

"That can't be true", I respond, flummoxed, sinking further into my seat.

"Oh it is. And I'll prove it...", She rummages through her bag, "with these!", She takes out a stack of DVDs and tosses them at me. I look through them; none of them even remotely familiar to me.

I pass them along to Phoenix. He looks just as confused. "And you want us to watch all of these?", He asks, in disbelief.

"Yes! By tonight!", She grins wickedly.

"That's...,"Phoenix stops to count in his head, "That's 12 hours!"

"That's nothing! We're immortals. We don't need sleep!", She rolls her eyes, waving off our complaints. She inputs one of the DVDs into the gaming console.

"We might not necessarily need it but I prefer it", I try arguing but it was a futile attempt. Xo always gets her way.

"Shh! It's starting", She goes to lay on the couch next to Phoenix, placing her feet on his lap. He glares at her, shoving them off. She simply laughs, folding her feet under her as the movie title appears on screen.

'Easy A', the screen reads. I groan in response. This better be worth it. Then unable to help it, I wonder whether this is a movie my mate has seen. And I knew that if she asked me to, I'd watch any of these movies with her again. Even if I end up disliking every one of these films. I already knew, I'd do anything for her. No matter how frivolous the request may be. I sigh wistfully, pushing the thoughts away and focus on the movie.

We're a little over an hour into the movie and so far the main character Olive has been bullied and shamed for participating in intercourse once. Her school counselor committed adultery with a student at the school, gave him a sexually transmitted disease, and instead of admitting to it, decided to blame it all on Olive, the designated 'school slut' instead. And in retaliation, the righteous girlfriend of the boy with the STD decided to start an obscene protest, calling Olive a whore and basically trying to kick her out of school for allegedly giving her boyfriend the said STD.

So I can definitely say I'm learning a lot. However, I can't say I ever imagined humans being capable of such vicious acts towards one another. Even if it is technically fiction, how much could possibly be based on reality? A shiver runs up my spine, thinking of all the possible damaging outcomes that can occur on our first day in the human world. And I understand how silly that sounds, considering I am an immortal vampire who technically has the power to slaughter any weak human. But that is definitely not the impression I'd like to leave on my mate, or rather anyone. In the human world, it can't be predator vs prey. It can't be any of that. I can't afford any mistakes. Not when it comes to her.
