"Daddy" the fog of my sleep is lifted by a soft, and sad voice near my ear. Am I dreaming? "Daddy" nope. It's Sara, and judging by the warm weight on my legs Ginny too. "What is it baby girl?" my eyes squint in the darkness my voice hoarse from sleep. Stevie stirs in my arms her head turning toward the sound of her daughter's voice. "Sara? Honey what's wrong?". Tiny hands grip my arm as she climbs closer to us "There's a monster outside my window".

Groaning Stevie reaches for my t-shirt pulling it over her head "Come see mommy" Sara crawls over me launching herself in Stevie's arms; I grope around in my bedside drawer for pajama bottoms pulling a pair on in the dark. "What did this monster look like sweetie?" snuggling against Stevie's chest Sara yawns "It was big and had big teeth and red eyes" I wrap my arms around both of them, trying my best to go back to sleep. "Did you hear that Linds? A big scary monster with red eyes and sharp teeth" Ginny circles the foot of the bed plopping down with an exaggerated sigh, as she settles in for sleep.

"If he's staying in Sara's room we need to charge him rent- "Stevie whacks my arm and I grunt sleepily "Daddy, can you check?" my eyes open again and my little girl and Stevie both look back at me. Stevie of course looks amused, Sara petrified. Groaning I pull my covers back ducking my head over the side of our bed "Any monsters down there? Nope, okay if there are you better stay there or I'll have to chuck you out of the house". Sara covers her eyes, and Stevie laughs kissing her soft brown curls "It's okay Sara, see Daddy scared off all the monsters. Didn't you Linds?" yeah, sure, monsters gone. "Mhmmm now let's go to sleep"

"Thank you, Daddy," I feel a kiss on my cheek and despite how tired I am I smile "You're welcome baby girl, now snuggle up with Mommy so we can get some sleep".

Sara tucks herself between me and Stevie peeking her head over the covers "Ginny". I feel a rustle at my feet and a jingle as Ginny lays near Sara's legs, my daughter looks down satisfied that things are how they should be, then promptly drops her eyes closed out like a light. Stevie kisses her hair looking at me her face shy, "You really want to do this all over again?" her eyes tease me and I cup her cheek gently "Absolutely,". Craning my neck I kiss Sara's hair and she wiggles in her sleep, "Night Buck" chuckling I kiss Stevie's nose "Night Steph".

"Why does mommy have to go to the doctor?" cutting up some fresh fruit for Stevie I hand Sara a small bowl with banana's and grapes. "Because she needs a checkup baby girl, like you get every year" her little hands grip her fork as she spears her banana slices. Somethings never change "Will she get a lollipop like I do?" reaching into the fridge I grab some fresh orange juice pouring two glasses "Well, grownups don't really get candy after leaving the Doctor's office." She looks shocked "But what if she gets a shot?" kissing her forehead I mix honey into some yogurt for myself sitting down to eat with Sara "Daddy will kiss it and make it better" she nods, this is an acceptable substitute.

"Linds have you seen my wedding ring-ha there it is" a cloud of lavender scented perfume follows Stevie down the stairs as she adjusts her earrings, she gives us each a kiss sitting next to me at the table to start he breakfast "I must have taken it off when I was washing up last night." I take her hand over the table kissing it "You look beautiful sweetheart" our lips meet tenderly then part Stevie starting in on her fresh fruit and juice. Sara's face scrunches "Ewww" her mother fixes her with a look over her juice glass "Sara Rhiannon" she giggles at her focusing on her breakfast again. She's also at the "my parents kissing is gross" phase, this apparently lasts until college graduation.

"Doctor Lewis will see you now Ms. Nicks" tossing a magazine on the table top I eye the nurse "It's Misses Buckingham actually" she blushes "I'm so sorry, I just-well I thought because of your albums-" Stevie pulls me along with her into the Doctor's office, Sara skipping behind us. Dr. Lewis is a jolly looking man with a gray beard and a round belly, which shakes whenever he laughs. Which is frequently. "Well, who's this?" he leans over looking at Sara. She laughs "I'm Sara" reaching into his white coat he procures a lollipop handing it to her he eyes grow wide "Look Daddy, he does have lollipops. My mommy can have one after her checkup" right?"
