I closed the door behind me as I walked back into my apartment. My head was spinning, I was completely shocked. Apparently he does like me after all, but I still don't know how I feel about him. Whatever, I just need to get him out of my head for the rest of tonight.
Remembering what I was doing before he came back I walked into the bathroom and got ready for bed. After brushing my teeth I curled up under my sheets and went to sleep.
It didn't seem very long after I had fallen asleep when I woke up because of a dream I had, but it was more of a nightmare.
I was walking around the college campus on my way to a near by cafe, it sat on top of a hill looking down at a busy street. I sat by one of the windows and saw my parents drive past and smiled. Maybe they're coming to visit. I started to put my stuff into my bookbag when I saw another car swerving on the road, they slid into the other lane.
I stopped packing and watched the next events happen. The big truck crashed into my parents small car, I didn't kow what to do.
I realized what happened and started screaming, "NOO, NOO, MOM! DAD!" I was sobbing, but no one has seemed to notice. I looked around the cafe and saw a police officer. I ran over to him still sobbing, I could barely talk, "S-i-rrr, y-o-uuu ha-v-e to h-e-l-pp meee, n-o-w! Please!"
No answer. I stopped crying and repeated myself, "Sir! Please! I need your help!"
Still no answer.
All of a sudden I woke up, crying. "Rose. It's okay, that's not how it happened. You didn't see it. It's just a bad dream." I looked over at the clock, 4:45. I didn't have to be up for a long while, but there was no way I would be able to fall back asleep.
I walked into the bathroom and flipped the light switch on, I look a mess. This is going to be a long day.
----
Later that day James and I decided to go out for lunch. We went to a popular little deli around the corner. I decided that it would be a good time to tell him about my date with Marshall, excluding our little kiss.
"Hey guess what?" He spoke with a happy face.
"What?" I questioned. I haven't really seen him in a while due to all his baby-momma drama.
"They set a court date. December 20. I might get her back in time for her first Christmas!"
"That's Great! I can't wait to see her, last time I saw her she still looked like a little potato!"
He chuckled, "Yeah, I mean I don't see why this all had to happen even..."
James had been dating this girl for about three years and he really loved her, I could tell by the way he looked at her. He asked her to marry him and she said yes so they eloped not wanting to wait any longer. Soon enough, she got pregnant. From what he's told me they were really happy. When their daughter Mariana was born James had to work more... When she was three months old James walked in on his wife cheating on him. They got divorced within a month, but the custody battle had to wait. So, for the past six months he's been trying to get her back.
"So James... Remember how I told you about me meeting Eminem and all?"
He nodded and leaned in engaging further into the conversation, "Of course I do, did something happen with all that?"
I hadn't told him that he even asked me out, let alone given me his phone number. I explained what had happened and he looked utterly shocked.
He whistled, "Are you serious!? Last night you went out with one of the most famous rappers and I'm just now finding out about it?"
My face went pink and I shrugged my shoulders, "Well I mean I don't even know that it means anything to him. I don't even know if it means anything to me!"
He leaned back from his fascinated position, "Aight, aight, I'll give you that. So. Will you be going out with him again?"
"I told you already, I don't know! I mean I kind of like him..."
James got a really big smile on his face upon hearing that I may have feelings for Marshall. We ate for about another half hour and then went back to the office. Despite how I feel about telling people my feelings (about them or other people), it felt good to have a good enough friend that I could trust with my feelings.
----
As we were walking back to the office my phone buzzed, it was Marshall. I told James that I would be back in a minute and went to answer the call.
"Hey Marshall."
"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out later?" He still seem uneasy with his words, almost like he was nervous.
Ohmygosh I should not have answered the phone. Before my brain could think my mouth spoke.
"Sure, why don't you come over to my place and I'll cook dinner."
"Sounds good, seven ok?"
"Jip, see you then." I hung up and ran up to James. Another date with Marshall. Yay.
----
Well dang. I don't know what to cook even? Should I just order pizza, or is that to casual? Spaghetti? I hate spaghetti. But maybe he likes it.. No. We won't risk it.
After twenty minutes of debating I decided on making a tortellini that my mom used to make for me when I was little. It was my favorite, she'd make it every birthday and special event. As I was rushing to get the meal cooked I walked past a mirror and oh, my gosh.
My clothes were fine, red jeans and a white and black striped sweater, but my hair looked like I went through a wind tunnel. I put it up in a sock bun and ran back into the kitchen, of course. I leave for a minute and it already starts to get ruined.
It looked like there was a miniature volcano on my stove. I quickly pulled it off assuming that it was done. I heard a knock on the door, okay. He's here. I turned the burner off and walked over to the foyer and opened the door slowly.
"Hey Marshall."
