[A/N Hey guys so two things first this chapter is all in Marshall's POV and this chapter is completely redone because it all got lost. Sorry I couldn't finish it any earlier.]
As I drove home thoughts swarmed my head. I don't know why I'm letting this get to my head. Besides this is all over a girl that I don't even know all that well. Pretty much all I know about her is she moved to Detroit about six months ago, her ex boyfriend won't leave her alone and there is someone trying to contact her that she doesn't want to speak to. So basically I don't know anything about her. I guess she doesn't know anything about me either though.
When I pulled into my driveway I noticed the lights were still on which meant the girls were still up. Hopefully it was just Lanie and Hailie since Whitney's bedtime was 8:30. Despite my request for her to be put to bed on time she was still up sitting on the couch next to the others.
"Whitney, I told you that you had to go to bed tonight. You have school tomorrow," I now directed my speech at Hailie and Lanie, "You should've put her to sleep."
"We're sorry Daddy, we just have some questions." Whitney said hugging me. Without even asking I knew what their questions were going to be. They want to know why I came home so late and what I was doing. Even though I already knew the question I still asked what they were.
"Where were you? Were you with that girl?" Hailie asked while her and Lanie got off the couch.
"Yes, I was with that girl, who by the way, has a name. Rose."
"Are you going to bring her here?" Now came from Lanie. Honestly I had been thinking about that and I was planning to invite her over while I was with her, but then she got that weird phone call. I still don't know what that was about considering I only speak English.
"That's enough questions for night. Come on Whit, I'm gonna put you to bed. Night girls. Don't stay up too late." I hugged them both and picked Whitney up to take her upstairs into her room. After tucking her in and kissing her goodnight I started walking back towards my bedroom as she called for me again.
"Daddy? WIll you read me a bed time story?"
I nodded and sat down on the edge of her bed to tell her the tale of the Princess and the Pea. It had always been her favorite.
Before we even got to the ending where you discovered the true reason the Princess couldn't sleep Whitney had already fallen asleep. This time I could go back to my bedroom for good to grab a quick shower and then go to sleep. Or at least try. From what I could hear Hailie and Lanie were still downstairs in the kitchen which was unfortunately right below my bedroom. Oh well.
-------
The next morning I woke up to the smell of bacon and pancakes. Most mornings I would make breakfast for everyone, but every now and then the girls would do it for me. I walked down the stairs to the kitchen and said good morning to the girls, still a little groggy.
I walked over to the stove and saw a plate full of pancakes and a separate one with bacon. While grabbing a plate I noticed the time. Shit, the girls are going to be late for school.
"You have to leave in ten minutes! Why aren't you ready yet? And where is Whitney?" I asked putting the plate down and I started to clean up the mess.
"Lanie left already for college and I'm not sure where Whit is, I think she was looking for some pants?" Hailie answered after finishing the last bit of her orange juice.
"I'll go find her and remember, you have to take her to and from swim practice tonight. You might have to leave cheer a bit earlier."
I started going upstairs when Hailie raced after me. "But dad! The Christmas game is next week!"
"I don't have time for this Hailie! Just do what I say!" She groaned in frustration, but I get going upstairs to find Whitney. Finally I found her sitting on her bed, in her pajamas. "Whit, please get dressed."
She shook her head and got off the bed, "I don't feel good dad!"
I rubbed my eyes and sighed, "I can't stay home with you today," I reached in her dresser and grabbed one of her sweaters and a pair off pants, "So please, put these on and go to school."
She hugged me and I kissed her on the top of her head. "Alright love you baby. I'll see you tonight."
I hate not being able to be there with them sometimes, but it's necessary sometimes. I'm sure she'll be okay anyways. Today I had to work on some songs, Dre has been wanting for me to try and work on some new singles. I haven't had a whole lot of time lately so I guess today would be the day to start.
------
After a few hours of working on some new tracks I decided to text Rose.
Me: Hey, wanna hang out later?
Five minutes past, ten minutes past. She must be busy with work still.
*Beep Beep*
Rose: Sure, sounds like fun! What are we gonna do?
Me: It's a surprise ;) Can I get you after you finish work?
Rose: You and your surprises :) But yeah, I get off at two
Me: See ya then
I decided today would finally be a good day to bring Rose over here since both of the girls would be out until about six. For now I should get back to work, I'll work on the date a little later.
