Jacey Summers

That morning, the first day of school, and obviously everyone's favourite day of the year, I woke up to the sound of 'Mika and Ariana Grande' as my alarm, which still didn't particularly have me leaping out of bed, in order to get ready for school.

In fact, it was more of a dragging of the body, I literally don't think I have a graceful bone in my body. Unlike my Mom, who seems to float, everywhere she goes, life is so unfair, or genetics, in this case. Especially when my brother used to be football captain, and you obviously need some coordination to play.

Like I said. Unfair.

I got dressed in my general attire, which consists of oversized comfy tops, and leggings or jeans. Then let my hair cascade in my face in its usual messy fashion, when you've dealt with hair like mine for so long, you learn just to let it do its own thing.

I applied eyeliner, and added a wing, then a coat of mascara, but left the rest of my face bare.

I then went downstairs and grabbed a cereal bar, and sat next to my brother on the cream, leather sofa. My brother Jackson is visiting from university at the moment, and he and I are quite similar, except we're not as close as when he still lived at home.

"Morning." He said, not even bothering to look away from the tv, I mean how rude! "'Sup dude." I said doing my awful impression of a surfer, purposely trying to get a rise out of him, and normally this would work, but today he seemed too engrossed in the football game, that he still wouldn't pay attention to me.

Not that it really bothered me, but last week he decided to let one of his "girlfriends" borrow my clothes, and then she ruined them, just by wearing them. Who knows where she'd been! No offence to my brother, but he really knows how to pick 'em.

So I thought that I deserved to get a bit of payback. "Jackson, hey Jackson. Whatchyadoin? Who's playing? Ooh are they winning? He's cute! What's his name? Huh? Huh?" I said all this while poking his cheek. He turned to look at me, amused.

"Cute? When have you ever said cute?" "I like totes say it the time! Duh!" I said in a nasally, high pitch voice, flailing my arms for added effect. He snorted. "Yeah, of course sis. Go to school, you annoying brat."

He turned back to the tv, and I got up, and grabbed my back pack from the table. "Karma's a bitch." I said leaving the room, smirking at the small victory, and getting ready to leave. As I walked through the door I heard a voice yell. "So are you!" Well isn't that sweet?

I saw the familiar, beat up car on the street, and as soon as I got in, I was greeted by Connor, Morgan and Joey, who was driving, leaving the happy couple in the back seats, considering I have eternal dibs on shotgun in any car I have ever been in, because, well.. No one else was smart enough, or quick enough at speaking, to get there first.

"Hey." I greeted everyone, half-heartedly, not because I wasn't happy to seem them all, because I was, but the first day of school, isn't exactly on my non-existent list of favourite days.

"Well aren't you chirpy?" An overly happy for the morning, Morgan asked. I slumped down further in my seat in reply. Joey sniggered at my enthusiasm, I glared at him playfully and asked "Well since you're such a morning person, maybe you could start setting off earlier and get me a Starbucks before you pick me up?"

He glanced away from the road to look at me, humour in his eyes. "You know what? If you get an A on your next physics test, I'll do just that for let's say... A month." He knew physics wasn't one of my best subjects, and I always got just a couple marks off of an A, which seriously irritated me.

"And if I don't get an A?" "You have to ask someone on a date. And I get to pick who." Damn. He knows I've never been on a proper date! I'm too shy to ask anyone, and no one's interested in me anyway.

But... Starbucks! Such a tough choice! Not. "Deal." Just then he turned in to the school's parking lot. When the car stopped, we shook on it.

"Oh god they're making bets already!" Connor declared dramatically. Since it's mine and Joey's thing to make bets throughout the year, and Connor may have got caught in the cross fire one time when we made a bet to see who could play the best prank on the other, and may I say that I would have won, if Connor hadn't told the girl Joey had asked on a date, that I was joking when I said that he thought he was a vampire and he applied glitter to his face every time he went on a date, and when he kissed a girl, he wore plastic fangs, and the best part was that she believed me!

I have a good reputation you see. But then Connor came along, heard everything and ruined it. I then may have proceeded to hack into Connor's Facebook, and messaged a few of the guys in school, claiming that I, as Connor, had a giant crush on them. Some of them still avoid him to this day. Not quite the boring, shy girl people think I am. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

We all walked into school together, but since Joey and Connor actually have other friends, they went to do the obligatory, first day of school greet, leaving me and Morgan to have one of the girly chats, that I of course love. Not. We were stood in front of our lockers, that happened to be next to each other.

"So did you hear? There's gonna be two new students this year." She told me. "Really?" We don't generally get new kids here. We live in a small town, and aren't really known for anything, so as to why anyone would want move here eludes me.

"Yeah a brother and sister, both in our year. And they're Connor's cousins, and he said they were cool. Not Fiona Pelcan cool, us kind of cool."

Fiona Pelcan is the biggest slut in school, who of course is popular because of this. I call her pelican, because you know how they have huge beaks? Fiona has a huge mouth, and she never shuts up.

"Of course, he didn't tell me how good looking Zack is..." She was staring off into the space behind me. Zack? I turned around to see what she was staring at, and instantly regretted it, because there, walking towards us, was the single most sexy guy I had ever seen in my life. Oh and who I could only assume was his sister.

By this time a few people were staring at us in shock, the good looking new kids walking towards the weirdos. The breath caught in my throat as Zack stood directly in front of us. Oh and so did his sister, I keep forgetting her. He took my my hand and pressed a kiss to it slowly. Everyone was blatantly gawking at us now. "You must be Jacey." I couldn't speak at this point. "You're even more beautiful in person." Needless to say, that was when shit went down.
