Chapter 4: "Wanna be my first victim?"
Jacey Summers
The day after that went relatively quickly, and it was soon lunch. I met up with Meghan and led her to our table, the 'outcast's' table. "Guys, this is Meghan. Meghan this is Joey, Connor and Morgan." I pointed to each person in turn.
"I apologise in advance if the happy couple over there start sucking face." I said grimacing at the thought. "Wow you're already talking at normal volume with this chick, so she must be cool." Joey said, and Meghan beamed at him. And they started chatting.
I could feel the chemistry between them already, and decided that I would set the two of them up. I made sure that she sat next to him, leaving the seat next me empty.
"Hey nerd!" I heard a voice from the other side of the cafeteria, no one from our table bothered to look up, not until two hands slammed down onto our table. "I was talking to you! What did you do to my girlfriend?"
It was Cameron, the devil, Deville. Did I mention he was in a 'relationship' with Fiona? They cheat on each other regularly and don't really care. "I'm quite sure, I have no idea what you're talking about."
I replied calmly, knowing that I'd done nothing wrong. "Lying slut."
Oh the irony of that statement, never been kissed, never had a boyfriend.
He glared at me and I glared right back. Normally I wouldn't be as confident as this, but today, after my run in with Fiona, I just wasn't in a good place. "I can assure you that I haven't said anything to your 'girlfriend' Cammy."
I smiled grimly at him. "Don't call me that, bitch." "Don't call her that dickhead." Connor spoke up, obviously getting over the shock of me talking back to Cameron.
"Ah the cavalry here to protect you. Isn't that sweet? Whatever. You better watch your back, bitch." And with that he stormed out of the cafeteria, bumping straight into another person I wasn't particularly fond of so far. Zack. And he was walking straight towards our table.
"Hey Zack, wanna sit with us?" One of the jocks yelled from the popular table.
Please say yes. Please say yes.
"No thanks man, I'm good."
Damn.
Everyone in the room gasped as he rejected the offer, no one in their right mind turns down the popular table to sit with us.
He sat next to me and started eating, my jaw, along with everyone elses at the table, dropped, as we all stared at him, except for Meghan who was just eating her salad as if nothing had happened. He started eating the food on his tray too.
"What? Why are you all looking at me like that?" He asked slowly. "Are you out of your damn mind?" I asked, then realising how loud I had said it, everyone looked our way again, I slumped down in my seat, I hate it when so many people look at me. "You could have sat at the popular table!" Joey exclaimed.
"And?" Zack said, genuinely looking confused. "Why would you wanna eat with us, when you eat with the 'cool kids'?" Morgan replied. "Because you guys seem more like my kind of people. They seem like Ken and Barbie dolls with no personality. And I know for a fact, that at least half of those girls, just wanna sleep with me." He smirked at that.
"And?" Joey asked mimicking Zack's earlier statement. "I don't wanna be known as the player on my first day." Zack said in a duh tone. "But tomorrow is okay?" I asked sarcastically. I was quite surprised I was being myself in front of him, must be the after effect of my encounter with Cameron. I took a swig of my orange juice.
"Well yeah. Wanna be my first victim?" You know those spit takes that happen in movies? I kid you not, that is what I did. All over Joey. I coughed and spluttered for a minute or too. "Glad to see your enthusiasm." I snorted at the thought. Joey had a napkin and was wiping off the juice. "Thanks for this by the way." He said bitterly.
"You are welcome." I smiled brightly at him, while he playfully glared at me.

Lunch after that was pretty uneventful, other than a few glares from the popular table. When the bell rang, I ran out if the cafeteria quickly, mainly because I knew I had AP classes all afternoon, and I didn't feel like having another encounter with "the hot new kid", as I've heard the freshman gossipers calling him.
"Hey blue eyes!"
Crap.
I quickened my pace towards my English class, but before I could turn the corner onto the home stretch, I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Well hey there. Come here often?" He asked smirking. "It's school, of course I do." I replied in a duh tone. He laughed, obviously familiar with sarcasm.
Well good for him!
"You're weird, you know that?" I scrunched my nose. "Better than being boring like everybody else." I replied, matter of factly. "Everybody?" "Well everybody other than Connor, Morgan, Meghan and Joey have yet to prove me otherwise."
We were almost at the classroom at this point.
Just a few more steps.
"Challenge accepted." And with that he walked into the classroom. Why does he always walk away from conversation- wait.
Challenge? What challenge?
I followed him in and sat down in my usual seat at the back of the class. "Well Mr Leighton, can you tell us something about yourself?" I peered up through my hair to see Zack standing tall at the front of the class. "Well, me and my sister Meghan just moved here. I'm 17, 18 in 4 months and I drive a motorcycle."
I scoffed while all the other girls sighed in admiration. Zack heard this and was looking over in amusement, I looked away. "Good. Please take any seat you want."
God even Ms Hilary has a crush on him.
Ms Hilary is a 4 time divorcee, every time a rich older husband, maybe she's switched to being a cougar now. I heard a seat pull out near me, turns out he was sat in the desk in front of me.
Great! Not.

I got home that afternoon feeling exhausted from, in my opinion, a really long day. My Mum informed me that we would be having guests for dinner next Thursday. I grabbed some oreos and went upstairs where I proceeded to watch The Big Bang Theory, on box set until it was 11 o'clock and I was on the verge of falling asleep.
Beep. Beep.
My phone went off.
See you Thursday night Blue Eyes.
