Slight Are You The One? spoilers in this chapter, just saying.   :)

Jacey Summers

His close proximity began to make me nervous. I could feel his breath against my ear. I audibly swallowed and looked into his eyes briefly before looking at the ground in an attempt to calm myself. And how's that working out for you Jace? Shut up.

His hands were on either side of my waist, and mine were loosely draping over his chest, trying to distance myself from him before my heart went into cardiac arrest. It may be too late. I might die.

I never got my first kiss, or went on my first date. I didn't even get to see the new Criminal Minds yet! No! If I'm about to die, I just want Logan Lerman to know, that I love hi-

"Are you listening to me? Or have you gone to your mind palace?"(1) He cut into my thoughts like a knife and I finally looked up at him.

"Did you just reference Sherlock?" I asked, amusement and some shock lacing my tone. "Who do you think introduced Meghan to..." He thought for a moment. "Every good show she watches?" I let out a breathy laugh, I really don't know how to feel about this closeness.

"Zack? Jacey?" We heard a voice calling, a voice that was getting closer. I looked down to see the position we were in and panicked. Using Zack's distracted state to my advantage, I made my escape down the other set of stairs.

I sat back down on the sofa, and picked up my phone. 5 missed calls from Mum. I am so dead. I quickly dialled her number.

"Jacey why haven't you been answer my calls?" She demanded angrily. "My phone was off." I lied easily. "Me and your father are going away and I thought you might want to come and say goodbye." She said, only calming down minutely. I told her I would be there soon.

My parents liked to go away every now and then, they were high school sweethearts and still very much in love. My old 'friends', yes I used to be social, all thought it was cute that they acted like teenagers, I just thought it was gross.

Okay, so now that I've mentioned it, I suppose I should explain to you what I mean by old 'friends'. When I was in freshman year, I knew Connor, but he'd drifted away from me slightly, he played football that year, so I found myself alone, but Jackson sometimes talked to me, he was a junior then, and very popular.

But then one day, Kaitlyn Talbott and her posse sat at my table during lunch. I didn't understand why anyone like her would talk to me, not until later anyway.

FLASHBACK

"Hey guys." I greeted my best friends, Kaitlyn, Jess and Britanny. I sat down at our usual table, but realised that everyone had gone quiet. The football players and cheerleaders were usually loud and boisterous, something was wrong.

"Jacey, you need to leave." To say I was confused was an understatement. I looked up at her, as did the rest of the cafeteria.

"You're brother has made it pretty clear that me and him will never happen, so I have no use for you anymore. Leave." Kaitlyn continued calmly, but I could see the bitterness there.

I had tears in my eyes, if I wasn't with them I had no one. I nodded grabbing my tray and slowly walking away.

I suddenly felt a cold liquid throughout my hair and running down my face. It was a strawberry milkshake. (My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard! -I'm sorry serious moment ruined.) That's when I ran to the bathroom, where I stayed for the rest of lunch, crying, before I feigned illness and went home.
