Jacey Summers
You know what sucks? Having a physics test you haven't revised for. You know what sucks even more? Having made a bet on said test, and needing to get an A, which obviously isn't going to happen.
I really hate Joey right now. It might not directly be his fault that I didn't study, but he came up with this stupid bet and I really do not want to be forced onto an extremely awkward date. I'd rather spend my time on Netflix or Tumblr, thanks.
It would probably be easier to blame Zack and Meghan. I'd been spending more time with them recently than I had been doing school work. Because apparently it's very easy to persuade me not to study. I know, shocking.
Somewhere in my self pity, and rocking back and forth in panic, someone had slid into the seat next to me. I looked up to see Nate Williams. The playboy himself.
If you look up the definition of a man whore in the dictionary, you'd find his picture, and I bet he'd have some slut hanging off his arm too.
And I try not to judge people as much as I can, but I can't class him and his posse as anything other than what they are. Sorry, not sorry.
"Hey, I'm Nate babe." He leaned towards me, but I just turned my head in the other direction, I didn't want to get involved with a guy like him, assholes aren't my type. They were, before I fell down the social ladder and fell on my ass, but I guess I've realised my mistakes since then. I've matur- nope. With my dirty mind, I don't think I can even finish that sentence and have it sound remotely true.
Have I mentioned he's Cameron, my arch nemesis' best friend?
"What's your name?" Does this guy ever shut up? I quietly answered before purposely picking at my nails to seem nonchalant, but this guy doesn't seem to understand how to take a hint. He wouldn't get it if I wrote my rejection on a post-it note and smacked him with it, it would stick to his face and he could read it and I'd get to slap him. I get the feeling he's one of those 'never give up' types.
"I see how it is." I feel myself relax and my shoulders drop as I let out a breath I didn't realise I was holding. In fact, I was fine again before I felt a hand on my thigh, and my entire body tensed at the contact. The hand was moving up, up, up.
"What's up?" The hand stopped moving. Zack eyed us warily. Never in my short time of knowing him, had I ever been so happy to see him. I sent him a pleading look, and then dropped my gaze to Nate's hand, hoping Zack would get me out of this.
"Zack! My man! Nothing much, Me and Jackie here were just getting acquainted." He couldn't even get my name right. He motioned for Zack to come closer, and he complied. I heard vague whispering and saw Zack's entire body go rigid. Nate then put his arm around me and I squirmed, trying escape his grasp, but he was having none of it. "You know how it is." He told Zack.
"Yeah, I do." I heard the sound of skin on skin, and not in the dirty way, in the 'Oh my God Zack may have broken Nate's nose' way. Then Nate was on the floor. And that's when the rest of the class started to discuss what had just happened. That was also, in my opinion, when Zack became the bad boy. According to the rest of the student body anyway.
"Dude! What the fuck?" Nate exclaimed. Zack simply shrugged, and walked around the desk towards me. He bent down to my level, put his hands on my shoulders and said, "Are you okay?" I nodded slightly, taking a couple of deep breaths.
"What is going on here?" Poor Miss Davidson, she's one of the nicest teachers in school, this probably isn't good for her health, having to yell at people.
Everyone in the class turned to look at the three of us. Traitors. "All three of you, go to the principle's office! Now!" I actually thought she was going to explode. Her face had turned bright red, and she was shouting with as much authority as she could muster. If I wasn't one of the people she was yelling at, it might have been amusing.
We scurried out of the room and towards Mr Knight's office. I was contemplating whether or not I would have to lie for Zack. Obviously I wasn't going to stick up for the perv. I decided to just follow Zack's lead.
We stood in front of the secretary's desk. Me shifting uncomfortably, Nate holding his bleeding nose, and Zack standing calm with his arms folded across his chest. She eyed us each individually before sighing and saying "Go straight in." So we did.
We each sat in a chair across from a very tired looking Mr Knight. He pointed to Nate, "You. What happened?" Nate went into an obviously premeditated story, where Zack somehow popped out of no where, and randomly hit him in the nose.
Mr Knight pointed towards me next. "Well, Nate was um..." I cleared my throat. "Trying to talk to me." Beside me Zack snorted. "He was attempting to hit on you, more like." He interjected. I rolled my eyes before continuing. "But I was brushing him off. Then he um... Put his hand on my leg. Then Zack got to class and came up to our desk and noticed how uncomfortable I was. Nate whispered something to him. And then Zack um..." I really didn't want to sell Zack out.
"I hit him." Zack said for me, and I was thankful. Mr Knight looked towards Zack. "What did he say to you that provoked you?" Honestly, I had been wondering the same thing. I hadn't know him for all that long, but my I knew Zack didn't lose his temper easily.
Zack's eyes wandered to me before he stood up walked over to Mr Knight and whispered something in his ear. Our principle's eyes widened for a second, before he looked at Nate in what I can only describe as disgust. Which, of course, just made me want to know even more.
Zack returned to his seat and I sent him a questioning look, but he didn't meet my eyes. In fact he was looking anywhere but me. "Okay, Zack two weeks detention." That's not too bad actually, to say he hit another student. "Nate, four weeks detention and you will go to the councillor's office, now, to make sure you know how to treat other student's. What you did, and said, is not acceptable " Wow. Whatever he said must have been bad. None of this was helping me deter my natural human curiosity.
"You may all go." He didn't have to tell me twice. I was out of there before either of the others. Nate shot me glare and started towards the councillor's office, as told. I waited for Zack and pulled him into a hug when I saw him.
He seemed shocked, when I flung my arms around his neck, but after a moment he snaked his arms around my waist. "Thanks." I muttered into his chest. "You're welcome sweetheart." I pulled away slightly and raised and eyebrow. Sweetheart? He shrugged.
We decided there was no point going back to class, so we went and sat on a bench outside school, me across from him. "So.." I started. "What did Nate say?" He shook his head, but I was determined to know. So I kept asking, and asking a- I think you get the point.
When that didn't work, I pulled out the big guns. The puppy dog eyes. They're irresistible to everyone. "Fine!" He exclaimed. "Stop looking at me like that though." I complied. "He... He said, 'Got my new fuck in the bag. She might just be a closet skank.' It just set me off, I didn't like him talking about you that way." I was surprised to say the least, but also a little hurt to be referred to as somebody's fuck or as a skank. The overwhelming feeling, however, was one of warmth spreading through me. Zack was protecting me.
"Thanks." I said. He chuckled. "You said that already." I had, I felt like it needed to be said again though. We sat in silence for a moment before I spoke up again.
"At least I got out of that physics test."

Hello again. This idea popped into my head this morning and I just needed to write it down before I forgot it. I also thought of an idea for a new book, but I'm not sure about it yet, we'll see I guess. This, again isn't such a long chapter, but I'll try and write some longer ones soon.
I listened to two albums while writing this, one was Symphony Soldier by The Cab, the other was Meet The Vamps by The Vamps, I don't know if anyone cares but I just thought I'd put this in here.
Oh! I also recently passed 300 reads, so thank you for that!
