Chapter 3:
Jacey Summers
Fiona Pelcan. With her icy blonde hair and dark brown roots, as well as her overly made up face, was walking straight towards the scene that was already playing out in front of me.
The fury in her eyes quickly disappeared to form glee when she stood in front of our small group, which was surrounded by a larger circle of random students, most of who I recognised but could see they had no clue who I was, and why this strange girl was getting attention from the hot new kid. Hell, I was wondering the same thing.
She was looking straight at Zack, not even sparing me or Morgan a glance, oh or Zack's sister. She had lust in her eyes. Oh he's her new victim, poor him!
"Hey there handsome." She said, with Zack only just noticing her, he still hadn't let go of my hand which was giving me tingles, yet making me uncomfortable as everyone around was staring at the two people holding hands. Fiona didn't seem to notice though, and obviously wasn't put off.
"Hi..." Zack replied, looking for her name. "Fiona. But you can call me anything you want, sweetie." She was blatantly flirting with him, and she always got what she wanted. "Okay, Fiona."
Maybe he was just dense, or maybe not interested? Why is he still holding my hand? This is weird, right?
"Would you like me to show you around, hot stuff?" She just doesn't give up, it doesn't happen. "No thanks, Jacey here has volunteered already." That got my attention, I looked up for the first time during this interaction, but with so many people watching us, I couldn't speak up.
This seemed to make Fiona notice me, and our adjoined hands, I shifted uncomfortably under her gaze, trying to unlink our hands, but Zack's grip just tightened. "But she doesn't even speak, we," she pointed between her and Zack, "could have way more fun."
She winked for added effect. I rolled my eyes without even thinking. "Do you have a problem, bitch?"
So that's my nickname? And Zack gets hot stuff? How nice.
I shook my head immediately, I don't want to get involved in any drama. "That's what I thought, so are you coming baby?" She giggled at her own innuendo, and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes again.
"No thanks." And with that he dragged me towards the office. I sent Morgan a pleading look, but she just looked amused and shrugged, such a good friend. I could feel Fiona's eyes burning into the back of my skull. Great, now she's going to plot my murder. Thanks guy, who I don't even know, also known as Zack.
We arrived at the office and Mrs Tamper looked up. "You must be one of the new students, where's your sister?" She looked between us.
"Here!" A voice said from behind us. I turned to see a female version of Zack. "What was that back there? Are you trying to make everyone hate this poor girl?" She said referring to me.
"I'm Meghan by the way." She offered her hand and I took it. "Jacey." I mumbled. She smiled brightly at me. "And you've already met my delightful brother." Her words were dripping with sarcasm. I nodded, and grumbled an "unfortunately."
She giggled, but I don't think Zack heard, his attention was on getting their schedules. "So what do you like to do?" She seemed genuinely interested, and most girls don't even give me the time of day. "Um, well I love to watch movies and TV shows, and I really like to read."
She nodded at this information. "Do you watch Sherlock or Criminal Minds?" They were my favourite shows. I nodded enthusiastically. "I love them." "Me too!" She replied. And that's when I knew, we were going to be best friends.
"Here Sis." Zack handed Meghan her schedule and then showed it to me. "Um we have music and history together. And we have history first so I'll take you." I said, suddenly feeling uncomfortable again with Zack's gaze on me.
He pushed his schedule in front of me, and I glanced down. I audibly groaned, but then covered my mouth realising what I'd done. "You're in all my AP classes." I mumbled.
He smirked at me. "I get the feeling you don't like me blue eyes." He said smugly. "Her eyes are grey dumbass." I giggled at Meghan's bluntness, but nodded as it was true. "Whatever, I'm gonna call you blue eyes."
"So can I call you asshole?" I gasped at my comment and my hands once again flew to my mouth, I'm not really one to be this sarcastic with people I don't know. "The nerd has spirit. I like it." And with that he took off down the hallway. I turned to Meghan and asked,
"At what point should I tell him that his class is the other way?" She laughed and we headed to our history lesson.
