Chapter 22: Johnny pov

I woke up in a hospital bed. 'Johnny? Johnny!' Said Lauren, and burst into tears. 'Lauren? What-'
'You don't remember?' She said sadly. I felt the colour draining from my face.
'I... I do! Lauren we need to go!' I exclaimed and tried sitting up. I winced.
'Johnny, there's not much we can do. I'm doing everything I can possibly do to help the police, and this is probably the most important part.' She said.
'What? What are you talking about?' I said, confused.
'This,' she said. From her pocket she pulled out a wooden sign, with 3 tiny words carved into it: Kenzie and Johnny. I froze, and looked up at my sister.
'Lauren,' I said. 'I... we... that's...'
'Calm down Johnny. Do you recognise this? It might give us answer as to where Kenzie is.'
'Yeah,' I swallowed. 'I do.'
*at the police station*
'Johnny,' said one of the police officers. 'You're telling us you know exactly where Mackenzie is?'
'No,' I said. 'I'm telling you exactly where Hayden WAS, and that's vital to finding out where he's gone now. If we get lucky, we can find something. It's our only lead.' 'What if it's a trap?' Said another policeman.
'You all know this is our only option,' said Maddie quietly. Everyone turned to look at her. 'Whether this is a trap or not, it's a clue and not investigating could be crucial. We HAVE to find my sister.'
'I agree with Maddie,' said Melissa, Kenzie's mom. Her voice was trembling. 'My daughter has been kidnapped and I'll do anything to get her back, as dangerous as it is.'
'Of course we have to go,' said a policewoman. 'I don't know what you're all thinking. Hayden is so young. It can't be that bad, right?'
