Chapter 8: Mackenzie pov

*the next day*
     I woke up, the sun streaming through the curtains. I smiled, feeling happier than I have since we moved schools. Last night was by far the best night of my life, and I have never been happier to get up early. Of course I'm a little worried about what everyone at school will say, but my mum was ecstatic when she heard. I think she likes Johnny, and I'm glad.                                                                            
I like him too.
     Maddie was so happy as well, it's so nice to have them both supporting me. Johnny said he will come to pick me up from my house, even though he lives down the road, so I asked maddie to do my make up and pick out a cute outfit. Once I'm ready, I text Johnny and he says he's on his way.                               
In a matter of minutes, I hear a knock on the door and a familiar voice. I smiled and ran downstairs.
*Walking down the street*
     'So, where are we going?' I asked, trying to keep my excitement inside.
     'It's a surprise,' Johnny said, smiling. His smile makes me melt every damn time.
     'Give me a hint,' I say.                                                                 
'No,' he replies simply.
     'Yes,' I protest.
'Fine,' he says with a gleam in his eyes. 'but only a hint. It's somewhere you've never been.'                                                   
'What? I've hardly been anywhere here!' I say. 'How am I supposed to guess from that?'
     'You're not.' He smiles. 'Because we're nearly there.'
     He leads me through a little opening through the trees, and my heart stops.
     In front of us was a beautiful stretch of green grass, filled with flowers of every colour you could think of. There was a stream running down the middle, the water as blue as the sky.                                         
'Thank you,' I breathed, and he took my hand.
     This was going to be a good first date.
