Lacey's POV

Chapter 18: Growing Pains

Song: Demi Lovato- Two Pieces

I wake up, feeling a throbbing pain in my head. "Ah!" I cry, clutching it. My temples are burning, and my head feels like it's in danger of exploding at any point in time.

Not fun.

"Headache?" Klaus mumbles, delicately kissing the side of my head.

"Mmhmm." I reply, squeezing my eyes shut. "It'll go away in a minute."

Sometimes the shortest headaches are the worst kind. They hurt the most, then leave as if you dreamt the pain in mere moments.

As if on cue, the pain subsides, and I let out a sigh of relief. I slowly remove my hands from the sides of my temples and reopen my eyes.

Klaus was smiling at me, his eyes genuine. I forgot my small minute of agony, and became comforted by the simple fact that he was there beside me.

"Better?" My heart beats a bit faster at his husky tone. I love the way he sounds. His British accent perfects every word that rolls of his tongue. I love the way he says everything. My name, lyrics to a song, the way he speaks quietly and softly at night or early in the morning. In my ear...

"Yes." I whisper.

"You're here. I'll always be better." A smile creep on his face. Klaus kisses my nose, making me laugh. His soft side is showing, a side I try my best not to take for granted. It always seems to linger longer when we're together.

He grows near to my ear, I can feel his breath against my skin. My eyes close, I take in every second of this perfect moment. Every breath, every place my skin explodes after his touch leaves me. It leaves me breathless.

"I love you."

His voice is velvet, clear, a shiver runs up my spine.

"I love you."

He stares at me, a look in his eye. Something...New.

"What?" I asked, curious if I've missed out on something.

"You. I love you." I laugh, sitting up on top of him. His smile is amused, as was mine.

"I love you too. Now kiss me."

And he does. It's hot, steamy. My fingers remain intwined in every curl of his hair.

"Every morning should be like this."

"Then it would get boring. That's why," He says.

"I like to keep things interesting..."

His eyes gaze at my overlarge stomach, a wide grin on his face. I smile, looking down at it too.

"She'll be beautiful." He says.

I smile, thinking to myself of a little girl. Klaus's curls, my eyes. God forbid she get her father's dimples.

Will she have a British accent like Klaus and the other Mikaelsons? Or an american one like mine?

There are so many combinations of what our child could potentially look like. I know I'll love her no matter what.

I already do.

"I hope she gets a move on, I feel as big as a house." Klaus chuckles.

"You're glowing, sweetheart."

"Am I?"

He is amused, happy excited. I'm in love.

"Shall we get dressed and showered? If we're going to convince Sophie Deveraux to let you go home." Klaus asks. "Mmm. Five more minutes." I say, shaking my head. I'm still on top of him, grinning.

"Five minutes for what exactly?" He implies, raising an eyebrow.

I smirk mischievously. "Make that half an hour."

"You did tell her we're coming?" I ask, turning the knob for our front door.

"Of course I didn't."

A laugh escapes my lips. I shouldn't have expected anything more from Niklaus Mikaelson. Sneaky bastard that he is.

"And we're just going to show up?"

"Precisely."

Soon we're walking down the streets of New Orleans. It's lazy day...Again. I wear sweatpants and a very oversized t-shirt, slides, my hair is in a messy bun. "Do you even know where it is?" I ask. This street just doesn't seem right.

"Yes." Klaus chuckles. "We're just taking a... Minor detour."

I roll my eyes at his sense of recklessness, but it makes me feel lightheaded with rebellion. "To where exactly?"

"Don't you know the meaning of 'surprise,' Lacey?"

I grin, my eyes are sparkling. His hand wraps around my own, proving I'm his, and only his. Just as I am sure he is mine.

We arrive at the witch's right on time. Or, the unplanned time anyway.

My day couldn't be any lovelier. Klaus makes my whole face light up. It's almost like he causes the sun to shine.

It does seem brighter than usual weather. I'm wearing my sweater, but maybe it's also Klaus's arm around me keeps me from the cold. "Compulsion isn't an option, right?" I ask, a playful smile on my lips.

"Bloody witches and their vervain." Klaus complains, his gaze far off into the distance. I laugh.

"Guess that's a 'no.'"

He just grins.

"Is that it?" I ask, pointing to a small cottage nearby. Klaus nods. "Sophie and her witch friend Sabine stay there if I recall correctly."

We keep walking until we're standing at her doorstep. At first, neither of us move. Then I open my mouth tto speak.

"It's now or never..."

That cliffhanger wasn't too bad, was it? Sorry for the wait, I hope it was worth it !

QOTC: What do you think of all the TO flashbacks lately?

AOTC: Jeez, Julie is killing me. I'm not going to have any tears LEFT. The Mikael ones are definately the worst.
