i remember the first time it happened.

i was seven. you were eight and i thought that you, ethan thomas, just had to be the cutest third grader on the playground. i thought you were so cool, with your spiked brown hair and light up spider-man sneakers and after days of deliberating in my mind i decided to finally talk to you. that day i wore my pink floral sundress and matching ballet flats just to impress you, i thought i looked pretty. what did you think? after all they said good first impressions are everything, right?

as i walked over to you, towards the tetherball courts my heart started beating quicker and quicker. i was nervous, i was going to finally speak to you. i walked up to you but you never seemed to notice not until i cleared my throat did you finally look to see me there, waving and giving off my best smile.

you stared at me. that's all you did. you stared and i stared back. that's the first time it happened. i felt it, time slowing down everything was in slow motion. it felt like forever. and my heart started beating even faster than i thought possible.

it never seemed to end, the staring, but it did only when i was hit on the head with a tetherball, breaking eye contact, and everyone began to laugh at me. but you didn't, you were still staring with wide eyes.

now tell me, did you feel it too?
