~ Demi ~

The first thing I saw, or the first person shall I say, that I saw upon awakening was Selena. She lay with her arm stretched above her head, her hair sprawled across her face as a snicker escaped me. Even then she looked beautiful. I sat up, gathering my bearings before standing. If time proved me right, we were in the next city over from the previous one. I grabbed my pants and slid them on, scooping up the folded piece of paper from my notebook before glancing back at Selena.

I never thought in a million years I would actually get her to even consider falling for me. Our friendship had lasted through the test of time, even if we avoided each other for a few years a while back. But gazing at her now, although my heart yearned to embrace her newfound attraction towards me, I don't think we'd be able to move past this if things went wrong. I was already doing everything my sponsors had warned me against. I should of called someone the moment I felt my feelings bubbling back up, but this was different. She was different. I had never allowed myself to be so truthful with her and so bold as to kissing her and yet she had never seemed so eager to allow such things to take place.

"Demi," I whispered to myself, "you're a hot fucking mess."

"Why are you mumbling?" An exhausted Selena groaned. She slowly opened her eyes, patting the bed as if I still lay next to her. Upon realizing I hadn't been there, she sat up. "Are you leaving?"

"Um, yeah. I have to get dressed and...stuff." My voice carried through the room as the brunette gave a gentle nod.

"Well we should have breakfast together."

"I don't think that's a good idea." Great, I was going to be the one that made it awkward.

"Why not?" Selena sat against the headboard, combing her fingers through her hair.

"Just because I want to play laser tag and breakfast will take up time." I couldn't get myself to push her away, no matter how badly I needed a line to be drawn between us. I needed something to hold me to my morals and yet there was nothing really left. Selena herself held no line between us.

"We can get dressed and meet up in about thirty minutes. Have breakfast and go out for laser tag before tonight's show. We'll make time." I watched as her brown eyes began to glisten from her own idea.

"Sure." I gave in. "I'll meet you out front in half an hour." I said my goodbyes before making it into my bus. Robert lay sprawled across my bed, his bare chest exposed. "This is not that kind of bus." I called out, waking the guy.

"Five more minutes." He turned onto his side away from me.

"Get up and get out." I demanded, tossing his lone shirt at his chest. "And round up no more than five people for laser tag."

"You're insufferable."

"Thanks. Now get out of my bed." I grabbed some shorts and a tank before hopping in the shower. The bus' music began to trail through the vehicle as I rolled my eyes annoyed at the man I had left moments ago. After a good ten minutes I dressed myself, my bare feet slapping the floor as I made it towards the front. "Robert!" I yelled. "If you don't shut that music off." I hadn't found him however. He must of turned the music on in order to annoy me. A knock came to the door as I faced it before it slowly opened.

"Hey Demi." It was Melissa. Now I spoke to her only during group outings because I wasn't rude. But I suppose we left our little rendezvous last year at a bad point, at least for her.

"Did you need something?"

"Not really. I wanted to tell you personally that I'm up for a game of laser tag."
