Mya
It's now the first holiday since I've been in school, Thanksgiving. A lot of the students here were going home to celebrate. Over the past few months Sam and I

"So you just going to stay here?" Sam asked me.

"Yeah I think I am. Study tidy up the room." I told her.

"I think you should just come home with me. Your mom is doing that show out in LA I know your whole family will be there." Sam said.

Which was true, my mom recently put out an album that was all about her over coming everything and it was tearing the charts up. One thing I couldn't fault my mom at was she knew how to use her voice. Even though it may have change over time she was rally working it.

"Look my mom is calling. I'm going to step out and see what she wants. But think about what I said." Sam said then left the room.

I cleaned up around the room until she came back smiling really wide.

"Why are you looking like that?" I asked.

"Why are you not?" She asked back with a question.

"Because my bestfriend looks crazy." I answered back putting away some clean clothes into the closet.

"So that was my mom." She said.

"I know you already told me." I laughed. "You okay, you Benn eating some more brownies lately?" I asked laughing.

"Shut up. But so my mom said to back your things you are coming too." She said all in one breath.

"What did you tell her I wanted to stay here?" I asked.

"See this is the thing. I sort of never mentioned you staying here." She answered quickly.

"Ughhhhh." I flopped back on the bed.

"Hey look at the bright side." She said.

"Which is?" I asked.

"You've never spent a holiday away from your brothers and sisters. At least this way you have a chance to if you change your mind last minute because you will already be in LA." She said. I fell back on the bed.

Arriving in LA

"So where is your mom?" I asked as we were in baggage claim.

"She's here. " Sam said.

"Okay." I said. We collected our bags then I followed her through the airport. We saw her mom holding a sign with our names on them.

"Oh my gosh, my girls" she said aloud then hugged the both of us. She helped us with our bags to her truck. I sat in the back while Sam sat in the passenger seat in front with her mom.

"So young ladies what are you guys going to do this break?" She ask.

"I was thinking we hangout with some old classmates. Maybe go to the skating rink or bowling." Sam said.

"Sounds alright. So Mya have you told your family that you are in town?" She asked me.

"No ma'am." I answered.

"May I ask why not?" She asks me.

"I mean it's not to be rude." I told her.

"When you start a sentence the way you just did, it is considered rude. And because you are a child and you are in my home i expect you to call your mother and grandmother when we get home. " she told me.
