Chapter 16: Cloud Guy

River sighed as she finally got out the hospital. She felt better now. But her body still pained for a little bit. She sighed as she rubbed her arm. Then the ladybug flew on her shoulder and squeaked. "Yes, I know I should be happy for recovering but... I'd rather stay in bed than be feeling sad as I saw them...".

Then River spread out her wings and started flying, but she winced as she started falling back down. She landed on the ground and sighed and panted as she slowly got up. "Guess I'm walking...".

"Well, at least you have wings." A voice said as River nodded. "Yeah, woohoo... wait. Who said that?!".

"You tell me." Cloud Guy went out behind a tree as River gasped and jumped away as she got startled. "A talking cloud!".

"That's a bit offensive." He replied as River calmed down. Then her expression softened as she sat on a log, then Cloud Guy sat beside her. "Sorry, I just got out the hospital and it's a pain the neck.".

"I feel ya. But I can tell that's not the only thing that's bugging you." He said and snickered at the pun. The ladybug on her shoulder growled as it glared at him. Then River sighed as she looked at the ground. "I-... actually like this guy, but sometimes I don't because he likes someone else. He belongs with her more than I do...".

"Who is that 'guy' exactly?" CG asked as River whispered. "Branch...".

Cloud Guy snickered, but then he bursted out laughing. River cocked a brow and crossed her arms. "What's so funny?! Are you making fun of me and him?!".

"Oh, no, no, only that Branch, dude. I don't see why you like him. He almost killed me with a stick." CG said and his gone became serious. River's expression the did same as she hugged her knees and looked away from his direction. "Yeah. Like how his stick went through my heart...".

"Woah, woah, don't be so cheesy over there..." CG said as River chuckled a bit. "And yet, I'm falling to a cloud. What's your name?".

"The name's Cloud Guy. Your River, right?" He asked as River slowly nodded. Then CG smiled. "Good. You're probably guessing how did I know that but I see all, I know all...".

"Then tell me, is Branch really that worth of my time?" She asked as Cloud Guy stammered. River sighed as she faced him. "Leave. I need to be alone...".

And with that, CG walked away. Then the ladybug hopped on her knee and crossed its tiny little arms and squeaked. River smiled a bit. "It's alright. I already knew he couldn't answer that. He's just a cloud with legs, arms, and a face.".

Back at Troll Tree, Branch couldn't help but keep thinking that River actually has a crush on him. He sighed as he slammed his head on the table. Suddenly, the door knocked. He or up and opened the door and saw Poppy. He cocked a brow and asked. "Poppy? What are you doing, here?".

"River is out the hospital! And I want to bake her some Welcome Back cookies!" Poppy said as Branch asked. "But why with me?".

"Because I want to." Poppy said and entered his pod. They already started baking the cookies, and Branch already put the cookies in the oven. He sat in the couch beside Poppy, then they both blushed as they realized their hands were accidentally on top of each other. They quickly pull away from each other and chuckled nervously as they heard the oven ding. "Guess it's ready.".
