Chapter 18: Mr. Dinkles' Birthday

Everyone was in front of Biggie's pod. Biggie told them that he had an emergency. Then Poppy knocked on the door for everybody else. Then the door opened and Biggie showed up. "Guys! You made it!".

"What's the problem, Biggie?" Poppy asked as Biggie squealed. "It's Mr. Dinkles birthday!".

"Wow, congratulations, Biggie..." River said and faked a grin. All she wanted to do is fly away and rather be killed by a Bergen again. Well, not again. Then Biggie pulled them all in and turned on the lights as they saw thousands of decorations. Boy, he's obsessed with his pet, is what River kept saying. Then Biggie handed them all tiny party hats. They all shrugged and put it on. Then Poppy clapped her hands. "Congratulations Biggie! And Mr. Dinkles!".

"Thanks Poppy." Biggie replied and Branch rubbed his nape. "Yeah, I suppose, congratulations.".

Then Poppy turned to Branch, and so did Branch as they both smile. Then they blush and quickly look away from each other while biting their bottom lips. River smiled just a little bit as she saw them, then Mr. Dinkles suddenly landed on her arms as Biggie stood in front with a camera. "Say leaves!".

River gave an odd grin as flash went over her face. Then River handed Mr. Dinkles back as she sighed. Music started to play and River saw Branch over at the corner. Back at Branch, he leaned on the wall and sighed as he crossed his arms. Then he saw Poppy dancing, and his eyes gazed upon her. Suddenly, his mind went back to reality when he heard a familiar voice. "Hey, Branch-"

"Ah! Oh, hi River." Branch replied as River smiled. She then leaned on the wall beside Branch and followed his eyes to Poppy. "Why don't you dance with her?".

"Wait... what?" Branch asked as River smiled. "Yeah. She seems pretty lonely out there... maybe you should go talk to her, too...".

"River, are you seriously saying what I think your saying?" Branch asked as River groaned. "Are you deaf? Go on! Dance with her before I change my mind!".

River said and pushed Branch as he accidentally bumped into Poppy. Poppy chuckled and whispered. "Hey Branch.".

"Uh... hey Poppy." Branch said as River smiled. Then the ladybug on her shoulder squeaked. River sighed as she ate a cookie form the table. "I know what I'm doing. So, don't judge me. Seriously, get off my case.".

Then River smiled a bit as she saw them dancing. A small teardrop on her face as she wiped it and looked out the window. She smelled the fresh air, then Guy Diamond stood beside her. River groaned as she looked at him. "You again? Why are you here?".

"Why not?" He said in his auto tone voice. River rolled her eyes and leaned on her arm that was resting on the window pane. The GD asked. "So, you're not mad about Branch and Poppy dancing?".

"No. But I'd rather look away so I won't." River said and rubbed her arm. Then Guy Diamond nodded. "You want a drink? A cookie? Anything?".

"Nope. Thanks." River said as Guy Diamond walked away. Then River turned around and saw them dancing as she smiled. Then she turned around and closed her eyes and relaxed for a moment. But then a face showed up in her head a she gasped and started panting and just felt like the person in her head just popped out in front of her. She shook her head and sighed. "Calm down...calm down, just need a few hours and I can leave.".
