A deal...
It was smart. Although she was reluctant, she knew she couldn't break it because if she did, Emily had full control of her body, and when she would finally get back in it, Tyra would be in deep shit. As she walked to her class with a slight skip in her step, she pondered their new dilemma.
Tyra was almost sure this was a dream. There was no possible explanation for this, with all the math and science she knew, she didn't believe there was a single way for people to switch bodies.
Her thoughts sounded almost logical.
It seemed as if this temporary switch wasn't as bad as it seemed.
As she continued to rack her brain for any suggestions at all, she felt someone's gaze on her. Tyra whipped around to see the new kid run around the corner. Was he... watching her?
The new boy, Charlie? That's his name, right? Charlie... at least that's what Minnie said... What a cute name
Could he possibly like her? She could feel her stomach overdose on butterflies as she stood, leaning against the wall in a daze. Then she realised, he wasn't watching her, he was watching Emily.
Well, Tyra in Emily's body. Her heart fell.
Maybe I can cope with being in Emily's body. Just for a little bit
She looked at her phone to see that she had only one minute to get to class before she was considered late. Desperate to be on time for once, she sprinted through the hallways to her next class. Lucky for her, period three was art. It was surprisingly fun, the teacher, Ms Thompson, was wacky and really kind.
What was happening to her? She hated school! And everything else that had the word 'school' in it. But now she actually liked a teacher? Oh well, maybe it was time to start learning to like things.
She learned in that lesson that Charlie had also chosen art.
This day is turning out greater than expected
He kept shooting glances at her and it was driving her crazy. She couldn't say anything to him because although Tyra was a master flirter, sadly, Emily was not. She couldn't think if Emily had ever had any boyfriends.
It's not her fault, she has other things to occupy her
Oh God, now she was defending Emily.
Drawing for her turned out to be surprisingly simple. Tyra's hand clutched onto her pencil flowed along the paper as if it was water. As she drew, she kept looking over at Charlie, catching his glances he kept shooting at her. She hardly paid attention to the drawing until the teacher ripped her artwork away from under her hands and showed it to the class
"This may be good, Emily, but next time, perhaps pay attention to the topic at hand."
Everyone gazed at the sketch in awe. People near her whispered compliments. Someone called out
"Hey! It looks just like Charlie!" She shook herself out of her daze. They were right, her sketch looked exactly like Charlie. The teacher saved her
"Wow! What a coincidence! Hahaha!" The class giggled and whispered as Tyra's cheeks blazed red. Charlie smiled. When the bell rang once again Tyra was off to her next class but found it hard to push through the crowd of people
"Emily, that drawing was awesome"
"Emily, did you really draw Charlie?"
"Emily, can you teach me how to draw?"
She stopped shoving to smile and say her thank you's to everyone. As the crowd died down, she noticed a group of boys that hadn't moved. Charlie was one of them
"Hey, that was a really good drawing." He smiled and walked up to her. She looked at him and saw him blush
"Thanks, you inspired it." Tyra could feel her cheeks burning once more.
"Ok look," Charlie lowered his voice "the guys back there want me to ask you something" Tyra froze "Uhh, can I have your snapchat?" Tyra could feel the blood rushing to her head
"Umm sure" she could hear Charlie's friends cheering.
"Ok, sweet, what is it?" Tyra realised she had no clue what Emily's snapchat was. She had used it, of course, turns out Emily talked to more people than you would think, but she had no clue what it was. She pulled out her phone quickly and they awkwardly stood in silence as she tried to find the username as fast as she could. Tyra felt Charlie's eyes burning into her, and she shoved her phone in his face.
"It's that."Tyra grimaced at how weird she was sounding. Charlie typed it in, whispered something, and walked back to his cheering friends. As she walked away quickly, she couldn't stop smiling.
At lunch, she sat with her new group of friends, including the red-head Minnie, who turned out to be a really cool person. They were all surprisingly nice and Mia, her supposed new best friend, was hilarious. After telling Mia about Charlie, Mia screamed and grabbed Tyra's phone.
The hour was taken up by the girls sending random stupid things to Charlie and hating on 'that bitch Tyra'. It turned out that Tyra was a lot of a bad person. Poor Emily. Tyra couldn't believe some of the rude things she had supposedly said about all the people in her new group when was her old self. She had changed alright, but she was surprisingly happy with her metamorphosis. This must have been what it felt like for Emily every day when she was herself. She couldn't blame Emily for constantly smiling. She really couldn't
After school, as she waved goodbye to her friends and started walking home (Google Maps could help with that), Emily, who seemed extra unhappy, strutted over to her.
"You didn't show it on stage, Tyra but you're quite good at acting." Emily sneered. It was so weird to be called Tyra, she was so used to Emily, "I mean, you actually hung out with Mia and the rest of those stupid girls." Was that how Tyra used to act? No wonder her friend group didn't like that girl. Tyra shrugged
"They're nice," and continued walking home (still checking Google Maps every five seconds)
"You can't be serious..." Emily stamped away
I guess that's what money does.
It certainly had to the old her. And to Emily too.
