The game isn't as good afterwards.
The three still continues with their streak but there was one weakness. . . Harry. He suddenly seems distracted, in fact, he can't even keep up. All I see is him blinking, shutting and rubbing his eyes every few seconds. Even from the distance, I know it's the same look he had during that time when he almost hit me with his car.
"What's wrong with Harry?" I ask Micha who is now paying very close attention even though she doesn't have any interest in games.
Her mouth is slightly open, "I — I don't know. I've never seen him like this."
"Well, whatever it is, he's got to get over it," Madz says and I gotta say she seems a little bitter over Harry. . . my mind changes when she says, "I hope he's fine."
"He's distracted," Isabelli says in a soft voice but I know the rest of us heard her as we all turn our heads to her.
Micha blinks a few times, "Wh-What do you mean distracted?"
Isabelli takes a deep breath, "It means the Harry that's playing there, saw something or thought of something that's obviously hurting his game."
Don't tell me. . .
"I wonder what it is," Micha says and leans back.
Madz rolls her eyes as though she knows something Micha should obviously know. I think I know but I'm not one to assume so I lean back and keep watching the game.
Louis took Harry out of the game moments later and he doesn't seem affected. Harry just walks out the game quietly.
"Distraction really hurts someone's game," Madz says quietly. "Swift."
"Hmm?"
"I'm not naive, I saw what he was looking at and I know you know," she says stiffly, making out her point very clearly for me.
I lick my lips and nod, "I'm hoping it isn't that."
"For your sake, I hope not," she replies.
The game ends with the score 3 - 2. Fortunately, Louis is good in his defense. When we go down the field, he is talking to Harry while Runner approaches me.
"What's going on?" I ask as he puts an arm over me. He's definitely too sweaty but I tolerate it.
He sighs, obviously still tired of the game. "I don't know, Louis is trying to talk him over it. Shall I take you back to the school?"
I nod, "Yeah."
I look over to the female kittens, "I'll see you cats later."
They all smile and nod as we exchange simple goodbyes.
I just try to think of what Madz said and I just hope I wasn't the reason. Can't be. I don't want to assume yet I don't want to come off as naive either. I get it, he saw us kissing but that can't be the reason why his game suffered for it.
"Thanks, Runner. I love you," I say as I close his car door.
He nods, "Love you."
He drives off as I make my way back to my haven. It's still eight PM, I've got another hour to stay all by myself. . . not unless Harry shows up but it's quite unlikely at the moment. Even though I've spent the past few weeks with him here, keeping decent conversations from time to time, I'm pretty sure he's not coming.
I keep walking, putting my coat on again.
Going in, we had a little trouble with the security guards because they wouldn't let us in but a phone call from Isabelli made it easier for me.
