Amy halts my wheelchair and I hear whispers cascade off the walls and my body shakes. She puts on a bright smile and greets the teacher.
I grunt as happily as I can manage. Miss Cask gives me a disapproving look.
The frown melts smoothly into a smile and flashes me her perfect teeth. "Sit, sit Coco," says Miss Cask. She steps back and frowns as she realises what she just said.
"Oh I'm so sorr_," she tries to say."It's fine," Amy says for me. Miss Carter looks at Amy oddly and then turns to me.
Abruptly, she steps forward and wheels me to the front of the class.
"Would you like to tell us about yourself?" she asks.
What a way to make this awkward...
"Miss Carter, Coco doesn't actually ta_," Amy tries to say for me.
"That'll be all Amy," says she interrupts.
"But!"
"I have a class to teach, Amy, and I don't think your teacher would appreciate you skipping your first class," Miss Carter says haughtily.
