Jack was thrown back into the refuge for a week because he was loitering. He was put in a room with a girl. The room had no beds and one window. He and the girl were the only ones in the room. They were both handcuffed to some pipes. "I'll be back to check in you street rats in an hour!" Snyder screeched. Jack looked the girl up and down. She looked around Crutchy's age of 12. She had bruises all over her face, arms, and legs. But her right leg reminded him of Crutchy as well. It was limp and weak. She's a crip! Jack thought. The girl was wearing a boys shirt with sleeves that went down to her elbows. She had black leggings and suspenders. Over all of that she had a sleeveless brown dress made out of cloth. He looked back at her face. She was looking down at her legs but her head would occasionally jerk to the side. Every 10 seconds or so. Her hair was jet black in a side braid. Her head stopped jerking but now her good leg was twitching. He had seen this before.
Something called Tourette's. He wanted to strike up a friendly conversation with the girl.
