Blinking a couple time he stands up with me. We both head back to the living room to find Cole sitting on the couch with a book he found in his hands. Sighing I sit in the side chair and Isaac sits on the couch not far away from me.
The night was awkward. We barely said anything to each other. To think of it Cole and Isaac didn't say anything to each other. Only said small nothings to me. After I was done with the awkwardness I got up and walked out of the room to look around the place. There was one bedroom and a room full of boxes. Sighing I walk back to the quiet living room and said, "there is only one bed room". They both looked up at my voice making me a little uncomfortable. "You can take it sweetheart", said Cole. When he said that I looked over to Isaac to see how he would react. His face was blanked but his jaw was clench. "Cole you should take it I will stay out here with Isaac", he seemed a little mad at that idea but didn't refuse. Night came and Cole left to the room as Isaac and I were left on the couch. "I can sleep on the floor", he said but I stopped him. "No", I smile as I push myself to the floor. He was hurt, he didn't need to be on the hard floor. "Pen I can...", he starts again. "Isaac, it is ok", I laugh placing a couch pillow under my head. Sighing he gave up on trying and layed down with a grunt. It must hurt so bad. Couple minutes pass and I say, "Isaac". He hums. "Thank you", I could hear as he moved on the couch soon a face appeared. Blue eyes and all. "Thank you for being there", I say. A smile comes to his face as his features soften making him look his age. "You look good when you don't have your tough face on", I smile up at him. He laughs saying, "and you look beautiful when you are not getting in trouble". His comment sends my cheeks to heat. We look at each other of a couple more minutes before he says, "goodnight Penelope". "Goodnight Isaac", and we both fall asleep soon after.
"You don't know anything about her", said a voice. "I know enough", said another voice. "Why are you even helping her, you agreed to spy on her", my eyes still shut I could tell that was Cole. "I only did it because he would have got another guy to do it, do you really want her to be hurt", he whisper yelled, it was Isaac. "You obviously did something to her", said Cole. It sounded like pain in his voice. "I'm not here to protect you Cole, I'm here to protect Penelope", he stated. "I'm going out to search", said Cole and then I heard a door shut. A minute passes and I hear,"I know you are awake". Slowly I open my eyes to see Isaac standing above me. His hair is a mess and his shirt was still off from when I did his wound. He said nothing to me, probably waiting to see if I was going to talk first. I sat up and pulled myself up to the couch behind me. Sitting there I stared at him. We never lost eye contact as he walked over to sit next to me. "Is it true", I say quietly. "Yes", he says eyes glossy. "Why", I wanted to hold back tears. Again it was another thing you thought and just got proven right. "Because Pen, if I said no you would have been put with another guy. Those people are not good to girls", he says. I say nothing but a tear falls anyways. "Pen, I don't know what happened to you in your past", he paused pushing a piece of my hair that fell behind my ear. "But I can see you have been through stuff", my eyes were watering by now. "I'm a mess aren't I", I say with a smile laugh wiping away the tears. "We all are Pen", he says with a smile on his face. Wrapping his arms around my body he pulls me to his chest. My hands covered my face. His arms brought warmth to me, reminding me of the night of my first dream. Slowly I take my hands off my face and wrap them around his torso. "Isaac", I said making him place his chin on my head. "Yes", I sighed and looked up at him. "I...", I said but the door opened to reveal a wet Cole. Pulling away from each other we watch as he shuts the door. "It is raining bad out", was all he said before he headed to the room. Looking back over to Isaac to he was already looking at me with his blue eyes. I could tell he wanted me to continue but right now was not the best time. So instead I stood up and walked to the next room where s kitchen was. Leaning against the counter, I mentally hit myself. Really pen, were you really going to say that? And with that I started to go through the cupboards looking for anything we could all eat. By the end of the search I found a can of beans, peas and soup. Sighing I take them to the living room to see Cole and Isaac stop talking as I walk in. I ignore it as I set the cans in front of them on the coffee table. "We could have these for lunch", I say crossing my arms in front of me. With that I walk away back to the kitchen. There was a back door in here. I was tempted to walk out and leave them. But I knew I couldn't do that. So instead I opened it to feel the cold, wet air. Rain poured from the sky in the bundles. What have I gotten myself into?
