After making to the school with Signe terribly late, they made their way towards their English class which had already started and tried to act as if everything was fine. As usual, the teacher was pissed off due to their delay. She was very forgiving the first time it happened but after a while, she would get mad like any other person would be.
"I'm glad Miss Wilson and Mister Mendes were able to join us today." The English teacher, Miss Jones protested crossing her arms over her chest as she glared at them through her glasses.
"We are so sorry-" Signe began to apologize before Shawn had any chance to do it for them and was cut off by the teacher.
"I don't care. Just go sit down and pay attention to the rest of class." Miss Jones dismissed as she adjusted her glasses. Shawn put one hand on Signe's back pushing her forward gently and one hand on her shoulder to guide her to their empty seats.
"Is there a day in which she's in a good mood?" The ginger whispered with annoyance once they were settled into their seats. Shawn began taking his stuff from his school bag as he repressed a laugh.
"You know she doesn't like to be interrupted," Shawn responded running a hand through his hair in an attempt to fix it." And us getting late."
"Next time I'll just miss the class," Signe complained, she sighed afterward. While she tied her long curly ginger hair into a ponytail, Shawn thought about where to find Maddie. It wouldn't be that hard since Signe was always around her, he just hoped he could get a few seconds with Maddie even though his best friend would find it weird. It had to be done, if Signe didn't listen to Shawn then she would certainly listen to Maddie.
When the class finally came to an end Shawn waited for Signe to finish putting away her school stuff in her bag and left the classroom with her.
"Do you know where Maddie is? I kinda need to talk to her." Shawn questioned as walked very close to the smaller girl.
"I'm gonna find her near the lockers as usual." She replied as she glanced at him with curiosity. He tried to look as if nothing was going on inside him, a war that he couldn't understand. "What is it about?"
"Nothing. I just need to ask her something." The boy lied feeling his heart ache a little for doing it. He hated to lie to her, but sometimes he had too, white lies wouldn't hurt anyone.
"You are very mysterious today," Signe commented raising an eyebrow. She stopped walking, turned around on her heels and put her small hand on his chest making Shawn stop as well. "Shawn...are you sure you don't wanna talk about it?"
"I'm fine Signe. For real." He held his breath as he watched Signe's expression change by the seconds and for the first time he couldn't actually tell what was going through her mind. Shawn was afraid she would think he was avoiding her or didn't trust anymore when, in fact, that wasn't what was happening. He wished he could just tell her he wanted her to stay away from Jeremy, but she refused to listen and would get mad at him if he insisted.
"I won't ask anymore. I know you would tell me if it was something really bothering you."
"Hey, Signe! Hey, Shawn!" Maddie greeted scaring Shawn who jumped when he heard her loud voice." Sorry..."
"It's okay. Actually, I was looking for you."
"Oh, you were?" The blonde puzzled staring right into Shawn's brown eyes. Shawn and Maddie had never interacted that much, the only times they had hung together were at Signe's birthday parties or at any other time Signe wanted to hang out with her two best friends. They were comfortable around each other, if Signe trusted them then it meant they could be trusted, yet it was still clearly a surprise for her his will of suddenly wanted to find her.
