"Come on! Acid you got to chase me! It's called Tag for a reason!" My neighbor boy yelled to me from across the lawn.

I always thought he looked stranger than us with his strange eyes. But I like them anyways. They are mysterious and cool and I love it!

"Acid pay attention!"

"I'm listening Jake."

"No you aren't! You are off in your own little bubble, floating away like normal."

"Maybe it is fun to float away. I'd love to float away from this place. It's evil." I say with a pout.

"I know. But my mom says we aren't allowed to leave."

"But we are treated so terribly because of our hair color! It isn't fair."

I had secretly been getting closer and closer to Jake until we were almost right next to each other. Then I tagged his shoulder, shouting "You're IT!"

I run back laughing as realization hits his face. I laugh and my mother calls out, "Acid, please don't be so loud. They are staring."

I look around and see the neighborhood brats staring at me, "Sorry mother."

One of the leaders of their gangs, V, starts walks up to me. "You are ugly. An ugly little brat."

"That isn't polite." I say back, standing my ground.

"Does it look like I care? You are just a Brunette while I'm a Blonde. Nothing can change that."

Then Jake's mom ran out, "I CAN CHANGE THAT! JUST YOU WATCH YOUNG LADY! SOON ACID AND JAKE WILL BOTH BE BLONDES. AND YOU WON'T BE SO HIGH ON YOUR CHANGE ANYMORE, NOW WILL YOU?" She screams, obscuring my view of her.

Then she marched away, grabbing Jake's arm, and dragging him back into their home. I walked into my home.

That was the last time I saw Jake besides when the authorities came to take him away when his mother was dead. He looked back at me and nodded in my direction. I nodded back, not knowing how to respond to his sudden change of looks. Then he was gone.

I thought they killed him. Until now.

"Jake?"

His smile grows, "The one and only. Don't you remember me calling you Smart Girl?"

"Of course. It was always because I would correct you." I laugh.

"Yeah. I should've known they would stick you in here too."

"Yeah. But we will get out...I swear."
