I slowly picked up the note I had dropped. Jake had gone completely silent. I don't know how to react. My dad, unknowingly, sacrificed himself for me. I love my dad. I love him so much.
"It isn't your fault."
I look up at Jake. "It isn't your fault Acid." Jake repeated. "He nor you could've known. And he would've done the same for you anyways. I know I would've. But I wasn't in the position to. Do not blame yourself no matter what. If anything, it's your mother's fault."
"W-W-W-Why would it be-"
"She stuck him in the Trials! She knew what she was doing and that you'd be going through them. Also that you would be feeling this guilt." Jake goes on.
I nod, not being able to move. I feel like I've re lost my parents over again. My mom...my dad. And I lost my dad so young. "I think you should leave this place. Come back when you are feeling better." Jake nods.
I feel his arms around me. "I promise it'll get better."
The door freaks open, "Acid." Kat says. "Your...the President would like to see you and know your answer now."
"Give me a moment."
"I cannot keep the President wai-"
"I SAID GIVE ME A MOMENT! I JUST FOUND OUT MY MOTHER IS AN EVIL TYRANT AND MY DAD WAS KILLED BY ME IN THE TRIALS! GIVE A GIRL A MOMENT!" I whip around, standing up.
Jake rubs my back again, "I'll pack to leave."
"Okay." I whispered, "I'm leaving. With Jake. If Jake and me don't get my demands though, I will dethrone my mother."
"You may speak to her about this."
I follow Kat out of the room. We walk down the same hallway. "So your mom is the-"
"I didn't know. My mother is dead."
"No she isn't. She is the-"
"My mother died one or two years ago. That...that thing? That is not my mother. I'd rather die than call her mom."
Kat nods, "Yea I can see why. Oops! I was not supposed to say that! I could be taken off the-"
"I won't tell anyone. I promise. Especially if I can out of here on my demands." I say, stopping in front of the 'office' door. I'd rather call it an evil lair.
"Okay. Thank you." Kat sighed. "I'll leave you to speak with her."
I open the door and march in. "Ah, my daughter is back. Hopefully you have made your decisi-"
"Stop. I could either dethrone you or leave. If you don't listen to my demands, I will dethrone you." I growl. "Now, first off, you and everyone here in this Place or any Place cannot harm Jake or me."
"But-"
"I am talking! Secondly, I want full freedom when I leave. And I may return if I wish to, and I may take over your position. In a duel. Third, I wish that all Brunettes do not have to go through the Trials. Only those who deserve it."
"That is a lot of commands. I don't think I could-"
"YES YOU CAN! YOU ARE AN EVIL TYRANT WHO CAN DO AS YOU WISH! YOU CAN FUFILL THOSE THREE MEASLY WISHES!" I take a breath. "Or ELSE I will NOT leave."
"Fine. Consider your wishes done. I don't care wether or not all Brunettes have to go through the Trials. Perhaps I shall put some Blondes or Ravens or-"
"NO! STOP RIGHT THERE! I could say there will be no more Trials! How about that?"
"Fine, not everyone must go through the Trials." My mom stops. "I do think you should be wary when you leave though. I've seen beings-"
"I'll worry about that when I leave. Now do we have a deal?"
"Yes, shake on it?"
"I don't wanna touch a filthy murderers hand." I growl, pulling away as she comes near me.
She almost seems hurt. Funny joke. I don't think she can be hurt. "You can leave whenever you wish. This deal has been recorded and made."
"Understood."
I leave, finding Kat waiting for me.
"Those were some strange demands." She says as we are walking.
"I'm a strange person. And she is not. She is a blood shedding monster. Cruel to all before her."
"I see. Well it looks like you are leaving. Jake and you get ready in an hour. I will pick you up then. "
"Okay."
Kat nods, leaving me in front of Jake's door. "And Acid."
"Yes?"
"I don't want to be like them. If there is anything you need, do not hesitate to ask." Kat looks at her feet, "They ruined me."
"Okay."
I turn my back to her, walking into Jake's room.
