Yoongi was a deer caught in headlights, frozen in his spot as he stared at Hoseok. Hoseok just stared right back at him, crossing his arms with a smug smile still pulling at his lips. When Yoongi managed to get his heart rate under control, he let out the breath he had been holding and shook his head, trying to gain his focus back. Unlocking the door to his apartment, he stepped inside, Hoseok following after him.
"You should really tell me when you're coming over." Yoongi let out a nervous laugh, closing the door behind them before making his way to the living room. His thoughts were still obscure, he wasn't ready to confront Hoseok right then and there, especially not right after he even decided to do so. He replayed Jin's words from the night before in his head over and over. It would be okay, Jin was right. Jimin seemed to think so too, he had nothing to worry about, right?
"How many years of friendship? We're passed that already Yoongs." Hoseok rolled his eyes and plopped down on the couch, waiting for Yoongi to start explaining. When he hadn't spoken a word, Hoseok huffed. "I'm waiting." He exasperated, watching as Yoongi sat down next to him hesitantly.
"Well what do you want to know?" He mumbled, becoming flustered with the whole situation.
"Are you guys together or just messing around?" Hoseok asked abruptly, his smile never leaving his face as he scooted closer to Yoongi.
Yoongi stayed quiet for a moment before speaking carefully. "We're together. We actually just made it official."
The younger gasped, hitting the blond's arm. "Why didn't you tell me? I'm your best friend!" He whined and hit his arm again. "I knew something was off!"
Yoongi had to think for a bit before answering, still being cautious. "Well, we were just messing around at first and I didn't want to mention it because I thought you'd get mad." He said quietly, not meeting his best friend's eyes.
"Mad? Why would I be mad about it?" He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"Because, you have, well, had a thing for him."
"How long have you been seeing each other?" That was the question Yoongi feared. Hoseok was taking it surprisingly well, and he was shocked to say the least. He expected quite the opposite reaction. This could be the big fuck up.
"Since the second time I went to the studio..." Yoongi trailed off, tapping his foot as a distraction. He was nibbling on his bottom lip, looking anywhere but at Hoseok.
"Holy shit, you totally robbed me!" He exclaimed, laughing and nudging the older's side.
"I know, I felt and still feel so bad about it." Yoongi frowned.
Hoseok grabbed Yoongi's shoulder, trying to catch his attention. When he finally looked at him, he smiled. "Hey, you don't have to feel bad, it's not fair to Jimin that you feel that way, and it's not like I owned him or anything. Dibs doesn't exist, he's not an object and well, I found Taehyung anyway." He shrugged it off as if it were nothing. Nothing. Yoongi was stressing over nothing.
Yoongi sighed heavily, feeling completely stupid. This was his best friend, the only person who truly knew him, the one who'd been by his side for years upon end, yet he couldn't tell him something like this. He felt really ashamed.
When Yoongi didn't speak again, it was Hoseok's turn to sigh as he continued to talk. "My infatuation with him wasn't that deep, I just wanted to get in his pants, I told you that. If you had told me that you were interested in him for real, I would've backed off, you know?" He paused. "Why didn't you tell me? Did you really think I'd be mad?" He chuckled, squeezing the older's shoulder.
"Yes, I really did."
"I don't understand why, have I ever done something like that before?" Hoseok questioned.
"It's just, you know how you are." He spoke quietly again.
Hoseok furrowed his eyebrows again. "What do you mean?"
"You know, you like to fool around, mess with people's emotions. Once you have your eyes set on someone, you go after them and don't give up until you have them." Yoongi had to look away from him again, not confident enough to look him in the eyes and say it. He had never commented about Hoseok's actions before.
Hoseok was stunned for a moment, taken aback before he finally responded. "But you're my best friend, and since you know I wasn't serious about anyone, you could've just let me know."
"I know that now, but I didn't know what to expect Hoseok. You say Jimin isn't an object but that's exactly how you treated all those other boys before him, before Taehyung too, like objects. You were so intent on Jimin, and I just didn't want things to get messy, fighting over some boy I barely knew and who I was only attracted to. I didn't want to let you use him like the others. We never really talk about your lifestyle, I don't know what you take seriously and what you don't take seriously. Shit, I don't even know what your relationship with Taehyung is. You know what I'm talking about, don't you?" He explained, hoping Hoseok would understand. When he turned to look at his face, he immediately regret saying what he did, and his eyes widened at Hoseok's hurt expression.
"Is that really what you think of me?" He asked in a low voice, his hand falling from Yoongi's shoulder. Hoseok distanced himself from the other a bit, suddenly feeling uncomfortable.
"No, Hoseok, you're misunderstanding what I'm trying to say, I-"
"No, I think I understand completely. You think I'm just some asshole who plays with people's emotions just for fun. You know those guys I've told you about? They knew what I was after, I made it very clear, it was their own fault they caught feelings. I didn't lead them on. I treated them the way they deserved to be treated. Is that really the kind of person you think I am? I thought you were the one person who knew me best!" Hoseok yelled, his eyes starting to blur as tears started to form. He stood up from the couch, shaking his head in disbelief.
Yoongi stood up too, opening his mouth to say something, but no words were coming out.
"I was afraid of commitment, and all this time you just thought I was some sick sadistic fuck? Does Jin think this way too? I told you Taehyung is my boyfriend, yet you have the audacity to say you don't know what my relationship with him is? Is the label not enough for you? The time I've spent with him as an official couple, nothing? Did you think I'd just throw him away like the rest or something?" Hoseok began walking to the door, but couldn't get very far when Yoongi pulled on his arm.
"No, Hoseok that's not what I think! You never told me anything and the way you made everything seem... I knew you weren't into commitment and relationships, I knew that. I never once thought you were a bad person, I just thought what you did was bad. I shouldn't have just assumed, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I couldn't trust you with Jimin, I'm sorry I misjudged your actions, I'm so sorry, please don't be offended, I–"
He cut him off. "One last thing. Weren't you the one complaining about how I didn't tell you about me and Taehyung the other day? Weren't you the one spouting bullshit about how you were my best friend and how you should've been the first to know? Best friends tell each other everything, right?"
Yoongi stayed quiet, it was true.
"Fucking hypocrite."
And with that, Hoseok shook his arm out of Yoongi's hold before walking straight out the door, not bothering to close it as he left.
