We were walking in silence when she asked me, "So, were you and June ever a thing? And then, you guys broke up and she could not bear that. Is something like that?" she looked at me."Well! We dated for a week but then she said something to Samantha that is not worth mentioning, and we broke up. She wasn't for me but she thinks the total opposite of it. She thinks that I love her and I haven't realised it just yet. For me, this theory is totally ridiculous. Once I asked a girl out for a date and you know she flatly refused because facing June's anger is the last thing in the world, she wishes for. So, apparently I have remained single all this time. Shame for a guy like me, isn't it? I wiggled my eyebrows.
"So full of yourself, aren't you?" she said.
"Soooo." I said stuffing my hands in my pocket. "So what?" she stopped to look at me.
"So, why did you asked?" Well, I was really curious to know that. "Just wanted to know that was she like this because of a reason or she is really a gone case." She said.
"And what did you infer?" I asked her.
"Well, I heard only your side of story. Not hers. I can't decide." She said. "So, you want to know her side of story. What will you say to her? 'Hey June. Can you tell me your side of story about Adam, so that I can know if you are a gone case or not.' " I said, mimicking a high pitched voice.
"First, that is stupid to say and I am not doing anything like that and second, I don't speak like that." she said hitting my shoulder.
"So, what is your story?" I asked her after a while. "What do you mean?" She was staring at the road ahead, avoiding my eyes, but I could see that her expressions had changed. Few moments ago, she was laughing and now she has the poker face on.
"I mean like more about you." I said. Actually, I want to know about her past. Why is she is afraid of rain? Why Daniel said what he said? Why he wanted me to stay away from her? What did he mean by saying, save both of us from damage or she has already gone too much? All these questions are lingering in my head ever since. 'And the cherry on cake', that I said I love her to his father even when I am not sure about it.
"um.. not much tell anyway!" she said shrugging. "I am from Riverwood. It is like four to five hours drive from here, maybe." It was the first time, she ever told me about her past. She would just avoid the topic by saying, 'let the past remain in past'.
"So, why did you move?" I asked, finally to get some answers.
"We are here." She stopped walking.
"What?" She nodded to her right and then I understood. We have reached her house. "So that means, I don't get any answers, this time also."
She smiled and said, "Haven't you heard, curiosity kills the cat.! Anyway, there isn't anything interesting about me." You are lying at my face, Annabelle Hemsworth.
