"You shouldn't promise things that you can't keep Adam." She said lifting her eyes to look at me.
"Why don't you fucking understand it? What's so difficult? It's only you who is on this guilt trip and blaming you, none one else does!!" My voice rising. I take a deep breath to calm myself down.
"Look Adam. You have to go. You shouldn't be with me. I told you, I am this bad omen destroying everybody. And nobody says but it's all my faul-" I couldn't take anymore of her shit. I placed my lips on her's. My hand moving to her back, pulling her towards me. I pulled back and placed my hands on her shoulders.
"That effectively shut you up. Thank goodness!!" I looked her before continuing. "Nobody blames you. Nobody hates you. You are the princess like Nathan used to call her, not the beast that you think of yourself as. Everybody loves you Anna. Daniel loves you. Sam, Jess, Patricia, Jason. They all love you. And I, I lo-"
"And?" She looks at me, clutching fistful of T-shirt.
"Anna! Its time you end this guilt trip of yours and start new. I know that you tried doing that when you moved to our town but due to my similarity, I fucking messed things up. But you still have to move on." I said all in one breath. I hope she understood it all.
"Maybe you are right. Maybe I should stop blaming myself. But I just can't help thinking about it." She sobbed into my chest.
"You should cry and let it all out." I said while holding her in my arms and sitting down on the floor.
I don't know how long we sat there holding onto each other but I was at bliss knowing I am able to comfort her.
"Miss Anna. I brought you your coffee. Can I come in please?" The 'nice' lady said from the otherwise of Anna's bedroom door and knocking on it.
"Should I hide in your closet or something? Because as far as I know, Daniel has banned my entry here. And the dutiful lady on the other side of the door would tell him." I raised my eyebrow.
"No need. I will talk to him about it." She stood up and walked to open the door.
"Thank you Rachel. Can you bring one more for my guest?" Anna said to the lady whose brows scrunched up in confusion.
"Guest?" And then her eyes landed on me. Her expression changing into that of horror. I gave an awkward wave to her. "But Mr. Hemsworth said he isn't allowed here. I sent him away. How did he even get in?"
"Calm down Rachel. I will talk to dad." She smiled at her. "Take this down. We will be down in few minutes. Maybe you can fix a quick sandwich too. I am starving." Rachel nodded at her and a big smile overtook her face.
"Maybe this young man here is something. Because all this time I have been here, this is the first time I have seen you truly happy and smiling dear." With that she left downstairs.
"Let's go." She pulled me by my hand, rushing me downstairs. Maybe that hug was something magical. I don't know what happened in that moment but I like it.
"Thank you for being so adamant to fix me." She whispered when we reached the last step.
"I didn't do anything special. I would do this for any friend." I turned to look at her.
We entered the kitchen and sat at the counter. Rachel placed the coffee and sandwich in front of me. I took a bite and realised how hungry I was. I ate an apple before leaving Patricia's house at five in the morning. The very next day after Nick told us this address and confirmed that Daniel and Anna moved here. It took him three days to search it all. I spent all those days reading Nathan's journal and listening to Patricia and Jason telling me stories about him and Anna. There were moments when Patricia broke down in tears talking about his late brother and Jason had to comfort her but never once I felt out of place. It felt, they took me in the second I told them I was in looking for Anna.
Searching for her, not only lead me to her but gave me new friends in form Jason and Patricia. Reading all those journal not only told me about Nathan but also about Anna. It was as if, I was seeing their life on a big screen infront of me.
"Earth to Adam." Anna waved her hand in front of me.
"Sorry!"
My phone rang and took it out to see the caller ID as Sam.
"Hello."
"Finally. Where are you? It's been over a week that you are away. Your network is out of coverage. We have been worried. Your parents are worried. Come the fuck back. And then we will go together to look for Anna. I mean, didn't the thought cross your mind to call us and give updates. Cellphones are meant for this prime purpose only, you idiot!" She continued on her rant.
"Calm down lady. And I don't think that we need to go together searching for Anna anymore. Because I am currently sitting with her."
"You found her. Thank god. Put this phone on speaker. Will you?" I did as she said, and I know what's going to come next.
"Anna! You are stupid girl. What's with you running away. I mean, if you would have told me about this earlier, me and Jess would have given Adam a makeover. I mean, we always wanted to dye his hair pink." Anna laughed out loud, filling the whole room.
"Since you made Anna laugh, I will pretend that you never said that statement." I chuckled over the phone.
"Look! Things aside. We really want you guys to come back. I mean, Adam has been out looking for you over a week."
"Don't worry! I am sending him back. And I'm going to talk to dad about is moving back. I want to be me again." Anna said over the phone.
"Great idea. Now I gotta go. I am going out with Jeremy. Don't worry Anna. I will tell you all about him when you come back. Bye guys!" She hung up on us without listening to our goodbyes back.
"It's six 'o clock. If you leave now then you will reach till midnight maybe. You really should go. Everybody is worried. Don't worry I will talk to Daniel and about coming back." She said.
"But I will talk to Daniel with you. Convince him and apologize."
"Adam. You should go." She gave me a look.
"Fine!!" I moved to the door. I opened it and moved out.
"Remember. It wasn't your fault and everybody loves you." I said, giving her a hug.
"Yeah! Bye and thank you!" She kissed my cheek and moved back. Blush tinting her cheeks.
Dazed, I walked to my car. Taking out the keys from my pocket, I suddenly felt the presence of a small box. Remembering about it, I quickly turned around and shouted.
"Anna! I forgot to give you this." With the box in my hand, I ran towards her.
But fate had other plans.
"Adam! Watch out." Anna shouted.
I saw her running towards me, shouting. And that was the last thing I remember before I fell on the ground unconscious, after colliding with the car.
