July 9th 6th, 2015, Hamilton 2016 ,Broadway, Lin, Pippa, Leslie and Ariana's closing night...
1 hour till showtime...
Pippa sat alone on the roof top. Hot, salty tears streamed down her cheeks. Sure they were sad but they were also happy, she thought back on the three years she spent with Hamilton. She made a family here, was given a home and for that she was forever grateful.
"I thought I might find you up here..." a soft voice came from behind her, she didn't need to turn to know who it wasn't "Thank you Lin..." she replied, he walked over and sat beside her. "For?" He questioned, she took her one hand, she could feel the cold metal of his wedding ring against her fingers. "A chance. You gave me the ability to pursue my dreams and I'm truly so grateful so thank you..." she said.
His kiss that night was his 'you're welcome'. It was his last time he would ever kiss her and for some reason that made him sad. Maybe it's because he knew him and Vanessa were splitting up and kissing Phillipa made him feel... not so lonely again. It was him telling her what he couldn't on the roof because his tears choked him up.
It caught her off guard but melted into it after. It was almost like a day no to this kiss but just like the usual difference, in real life this kiss wasn't Phillipas pre wedding doubt or Lin leaving his wife, it was love and affection. The whole cast noticed too, aswell as the audience they were captured by the aura of the two. Lac even held the music a little longer so they audience could clap and cheer. It was one of the more magical moments in the show.
That night the cast all hung out at the theatre, one by one leaving. "Oh. Stevens here..." Pippa said, her and Lin were cleaning up from the little party they had. "I'll tell him to wait a few so we can finish cleaning" she said, he smiled. "Tell him to wait a few but we're not cleaning" Lin says, she nods.
"He's not happy but he's waiting" she chuckled, she knew it would be a fight later but for now she was focused on Lin. "You can go I don't want to..." but she stopped him. "No it's fine. He can get over it." She said, Lin didn't respond. He instead kept staring at the ground. "Lin...?" She questioned until she saw a small drop of water hit his shoe. She walked over and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Please don't cry. I don't want to be the reason you cry" she said, he held her tightly. "Pippa...oh Pippa Soo. I can't tell you all I feel for you. I tried to tell you in the show..." he trailed. "Don't worry, I got it" she said, he nodded. They spent the next little while hugging until Phillipas phone started ringing.
"Steven..." she winced and Lin saw. "Okay I'm coming" she sighed and hung up. "I have to go, Thank you for everything Lin. I love you Alexander" she said, Lin smiled. "I love you too Betsey. I want to see you again Pippa" he said, she nodded. "Let's get brunch this weekend.."
They never got brunch. They didn't really talk at all. Little did he know the next time he would see her again would be back at the theatre, staring up at their silhouettes on the door...
