The light shone through the window and into the sleeping couples room.

She rolled out of bed and began to put on her business professional dress for the day. Life as a lawyer wasn't as glamorous as her husbands job as a pop star, but she loved every second of it.

Once she was ready, she kissed her husband on the forehead before checking up on her son.

"I love you, muffin."

She walked into the dinosaur themed nursery that belonged to her 2 year old son, Henry.

He was fast asleep in his crib, just like his father. She looked into the baby bed and smiled. Oh how blessed she felt with her happy family. She placed her hand on her stomach. In three months Henry will share this room with a little sister. Henry will be a lovely big brother, just like his father.

She walked downstairs and began to make a healthy breakfast, oatmeal. Today at work she will begin a case defending a teen girl who is trying to sue her abusive boyfriend. The situation reminded her a lot of a relationship she had in her high school years. It was because of this that she pledged herself to do everything she could to help this young girl, because she wished someone would have when it was her.

Meanwhile, upstairs, her sleepy husband was stretching out his limbs as he woke up.

He sat up and whipped his eyes. He glanced at the picture of his high school sweetheart and him that was on his nightstand. It's been ten years, and he still dreams about her from time to time. Not a day goes by that he doesn't think about her, about what he could have done to save her. He can dream and regret all he would like, but it wouldn't change the fact that Rosemary Evans sadly passed away at the age of 18.

He picked up the picture he had of them together and ran his finger over it. He took a deep breath and put the picture back. He can't change the past, he can't bring her back. He's married now, and has a kid and one on the way. He loves his wife deeply, don't get me wrong, but it seems he just can't get his first love out of his head.

He got up and put on a shirt and basketball shorts. When he went downstairs, he saw his wife eating her favorite cinnamon oatmeal.

"Oatmeal again, eh Cecilia?" He called out to her.

"Well of course," she smiled back at him. Seeing her smile made him forget all about Rosemary and his high school years. All that mattered now was that they had each other, and their growing family. He grabbed a muffin out of the fridge and sat down next to her.

They ate in silence. Not an awkward silence, but a calming one. They find they need moments like that in their age.

Once they were done with breakfast, Shawn threw away his wrapper, kissed his wife on the check and went outside to begin his morning run.

He tried to pretend that every step he took was getting him farther away from Rosemary, but it wasn't working. All he could think about was her funeral, his last goodbye.

*10 years earlier*
"Hey Rose," Shawn sniffed as he stood over her casket.

Her face was as pale as ever, her eyes shut peacefully. A bouquet of flowers lay over her chest.

"I- I just wanted to let you know that I don't blame you for all of this... I know it isn't your fault," he spoke quietly so no one else could over hear. "I know you were just trying to-to get away from all of this, this crazy world. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there for you. I love you Rose." Tears flowed down his checks. He rested his elbows on the edge of casket and ran his hands through his hair.

He was putting his entire body weight on the coffin, caving into it. He knew everyone was watching--her family, her friends, and even her fans watching on the live stream--but he didn't care. This was the last time he would ever be able to see the love of his life not as dirt on the ground.
